Awesome end results! Question for you, how do you control the WB? How is this achieved if you want to use the brightest part of the picture? Is it putting the focus on that spot? Thanks in advance,

@brookie229 I very much like how you applied HDR here, there is no detectable loss of saturation and detail is still quite good.

Here is another HDR from me:

Not surprisingly, plenty of detail where it should be, very nice shot, I will try and do a bit of frosty shots the next few days when I have the time. Another nice aspect of the camera to be explored is how realistic snow looks when captured with the Passport, i.e. susceptibility to WB shifts, colour accuracy. I think @YesAndNo posted snowy shots here that looked incredibly natural in terms of colour reproduction.

@brookie229 Glad you mentioned 'low-light'! Not all is lost with the Passport's camera when used under such conditions:

What a great thread! I now know how to take better pictures with my phone! My Canon shooter is still my go to when I need a high quality shot, but now I know I can do more with my Passport. Thanks to all!

It is so wonderful when such lines and feedback could be seen here. I am grateful because on the one hand, this is your appreciation of my effort to maintain the useful discussion and on the other, proves that the joint effort to improve user experience with the Passport in this topic leads to participants being rewarded with extra knowledge and better understanding of the camera use, that's what really matters! Huge thanks for your comment!

Another experiment that addresses pretty much the same WB discussion above.

This is the regular 'meter-and-shoot' approach:

    The power of Passport's camera!-img_20200114_091114.jpg

This is after the scene has been refocused / metered and slightly recomposed:

    The power of Passport's camera!-img_20200114_091156.jpg

I personally dislike the first photo because of the unnatural blue tint and find the second attempt closer to the real picture. Auto mode within the stock camera app does not seem to be completely 'auto'!

Here are two more 'meter-and-shoot' photos that exhibit good colour and WB accuracy:

    The power of Passport's camera!-img_20200114_090039.jpg

    The power of Passport's camera!-img_20200114_090329.jpg

Normally you would expect the blue tint to be a real issue in such frosty mornings but I did not notice any problems with colour and WB during this test.

Another tip is to change the camera mode to 4:3 so you're using the full sensor.

And don't forget to take your photos in landscape mode unless there is an unusual requirement to use portrait in a given shot.

And here's some contribution from me to this most excellent thread. These are front and back covers of a 1954 10" LP, actually the first album Bill De Arango, excellent jazz guitarist had released under his name. These are pictures I took with my Passport in order to tpost them on a jazz music blog; Some people emailed me to congratulate me on the scans, although obviously these were only pictures. The power of Passport's camera!-bda1.jpg[ATTACH=CONFIG]447311
