One thing that I loved about my BB10 devices is HDMI out. I don't have money to shell out for 4 New HDTVs with miracast especially since that last one i bought was two years ago. Nor do I want to have to buy like 4-5 Miracast dongles at 50-100 dollars. Thats ridiculous. I love being able to view my content and not have the need to bring an adapter and a power supply with me everywhere I go. Id rather bring a HDMI to MicroHDMI cable.

What are your feelings about this?

Soooo, you know that Miracast support is not dependent on ports, right? Seeing that it's a wireless media connection?

    And the Passport HAS Miracast.

You misinterpreted. Regardless of there being an HDMI port or not there should be Miracast.

Do tell, how many phones out there output 4k at 60FPS?

No, you included it with only one poll option, when it shouldn't be included with either of them.

Dedicated HDMI all the way. The Slimport implementation will become one giant headache and quick too. The list of incompatible equipment will likely be staggering.

I use projectors a lot, so I would be happiest with whatever will work for our existing projectors, which I know accept HDMI, because that's what I use right now. I'm not sure what else they accept, but they are only about 2yrs old, so they have a lot of servicable lifetime in them.

A phone that freaking big and there is no HDMI port? Come on that's just crazy talk!

Definitely need HDMI. It's one of BlackBerry's great features.

Please tell me that MHL adapter on the Passport doesn't require an external power source. I have this on my Samsung Tab 3 and I need to attach power via the micro usb port on the MHL adapter to get the HDMI to work. I'm definitely not impressed with that. However it's an MHL v1.2 I believe.

To me whether whether you use an MHL adapter or a micro HDMI cable.. it's relatively the same thing. Most people don't have micro HDMI cables lying around but more than likely they have standard HDMI cables (which will interface to a MHL adapter). So if you're on the GO you'll most likely be carrying a micro HDMI cable or the MHL adapter (adapter is more portable)

I do like micro HDMI b/c that's all I need. Most hotels don't have an HDMI lying around so I'd need the adapter and an HDMI cable. That's an extra big cable.

MHL sounds cool (use the same remote as your home entertainment system to control your phone for playback etc..) however, mini-HDMI ports are far from obsolete and still quite handy. With all that real estate, surely they can find a little room for it... I love Miracast but it's still a little laggy at times so it's nice to have the cable when you need a steady connection and your output device won't power your phone (in some cases it will). If they include the adapter in the box, I'm sure most people will be happy enough but then you have to carry an adapter and an HDMI cable. My micro HDMI cable has a nice small footprint. (even the 15' one)
