I switched from the iPhone to the Blackberry Passport and I absolutely love the Phone and the OS.
The biggest issue is the lack of apps in the BB App World. I am a Spotify User but switched to Deezer because they had BlackBerry support. After i signed up, I realized that the App was last updated in 2013!!! I already contacted Deezer but it would be great if more people would join in.

The link for the support contact is here

I tried the Spotify Android App (from Amazon and Snap) but its somewhat laggy and uses over 8% CPU constantly which drains the battery like crazy. The Deezer App uses less than 1%.

    Thanks for you help!

You're better off just using the Android version.

I'd love to see Deezer updated, but I also imagine that the Android version will run better on the 10.3.1 that's rolling out (if you havent installed it already)

The Android version of Deezer does not let me save the files on SD and the cpu usage is also much higher.

How hard is it to port an Android App to BB World? How come the Android version of Deezer uses over 4% CPU and the BB World version uses less than 1%? Is the port not running in the Android VM as well?

An Android app is an Android app - whether from bbw or anywhere else.

The app has probably evolved and bloated over the last two years and is just a bigger resource hog now (if your numbers are correct).

Over that time, the app has gone from being about 5MB in size to almost 15MB. Tells you something.

How come the Android Deezer App does not support the skip song functionality by long pressing volume up but the BlackBerry World version does? I don't think that the Android Port is exactly the same as the Android Apk download from Amazon or Snap.

Because it's not the same. It's 18 months newer and 3 times the size. They've changed the app a lot.

This is not what I mean. I understand that they added functionality. What I mean is that the BlackBerry world version has native support for skipping songs but the android version does not. This means that the BlackBerry Android port has some BlackBerry magic added compared to the standard android version.

It's not the same. Some developers tweaked their apks to work better before submitting to bbw

Possible, but highly unlikely. Many other android media apps use those buttons without issue. I think, over time, Deezer just changed its implementation.

As a matter of fact, if you poke around the bbw Deezer app, you find that (internally) it identifies itself as Android v3.137 (despite having a version number of 1.0.64.0 in bbw). The current version of Deezer is v4.5xx.

Anyway, I suppose it doesn't really matter. It is what it is.
