Without trial and error and likely ruining the plastic finish, I wanted to ask if anyone knew what is the best way to clean the natural finger oils off the plastic keyboard.

Specifically I was wondering about the thin matte black chin under the spacebar. Through exhaustive use - yes I love the PP, the area directly under the space bar is showing a shinny sheen due to the repeated rubbing of the finish whilst hitting the space bar.

    Any ideas?

I've tried alcohol but it's not removing the sheen entirely.

I'd try nail polish remover. Should be less polar than rubbing alcohol.

Safe? That stuff scares me in general as I have seen it mess up plastic!

I would stay away from nail polish remover. Acetone dissolves a lot of plastics.

Worked for me on my old Bold 9900, although I'd keep it away from the keys on the keyboard. Works great for getting rid of carrier branding, though.

Did some good old web research.

Need to buy some NON Acetone nail polish remover. That will be ok for plastics!

That or try rubbing with toothpaste.

Yeah, most of those are ethyl acetate now.
