Hold your finger on the screen for it to focus on X.

Treat the camera like an SLR camera, press and hold the blue button until it focuses then release and then it will take the picture focused.

Tried that and yes it does improve the image 2 out of 5 shots. I've noticed the image kinda like "vibrating" as it focuses causing a fuzzy pic as shown below:
