The pp camera takes really good photos if you take your time. We are on a road trip at the moment and saw this mountain. It has recently had a bush fire, so it was a bit eerie.

You guys have to stop taking photos in 1:1. Not saying anything is wrong with the ratio and I understand it makes wallpapers for your passport easy, but they don't make camera sensors in 1:1. I bet you the sensor in the PP's camera unit is 4:3. If you take photos in that ratio it'll make use of the entire sensor, resulting in the best quality if I remember correctly about that.

Not impressed by the passport camera whatsoever.
There are supposed to be two pictures in this post.
The first picture with the 'flash' wasn't supposed to be uploaded. Apologies.

Sint Nicolaas in Groningen - the Netherlands

The dutch also bring sint Nicolaas to America in New Amsterdam. When it became New York people still celebrate it and later one the name chanced in the centuries into Santa Claus.

In 1812 there was a book published "a history of new york" where also was the story of Sint Nicolaas.

So the dutch Sint Nicolaas chanced into Santa Claus and that is celebrated late 19 century. In the civil war the also called Sint Nicolaas into Sint Nick and some in santa claus.

Why because we call him also Sinterklaas and that sounds like santa claus.

And wasn't he said to have a little black slave boy that kidnaps children who were bad or something? Lol, I have some Dutch friends and they always joke about how racist their culture is/was.

The real sint Nicolaas (3th century) just enslaved some slaves and one little boy stay with him but that was a long time ago. That is the real story. He also brought back three little children from the dead and so on. But Nothing to do with slaves and childeren find them cool, great and brave these days because they climbing on the roof and are everybody's friend.

It's all positive and nothing negative and has nothing to do with slaves, because when zwarte piet showed up the first time in Holland slavery banded from europe. At that time to have a servant that was black was the bomb at rich people houses in france, Belgium etc.

That were payed people and that time someone just writed a book (1850) about sint Nicolaas and that was the first time a black servant showed up because it was populair at that time half way 19 century. Before the servant was called Jan but he was white but had a black face of the chimney.
At the beginning of the 20th century it started a tradition to use only zwarte piet and Jan was gone.

So there you have it a payed servant and what is wrong about getting payed.

p.s. My siter in law is from Somalie and I also have a sister in law from Namibia and my brother lives there also. I'm married with and Indonesian wife and my familie is white frysians and we are very international but we all enjoying Sinterklaas (SantaClaus).

I thought I'd post this panorama of tidbinbilla tracking stating I took on a recent holiday. As I was taking the shot, they were communicating with rosetta (actually not this dish, but the one next to it) - got all the low down from the landing before it went public

Anyway, for those that claim the passport doesn't take good photos, I really can't complain about this one. Its now my desktop (dual monitor) background.
