one of the issues i have with my Q10 camera is during low light and bumpy conditions, like for example, taking a photo with friends on a bus or in a taxi, it always yielded disappointing results. also when you want to snap a photo really really quickly (like maybe a passing celeb or public offender) the q10 cam took soooo long to even come up

were these still the issue with the Passport camera?

How about the photos taken using the front camera? Is it still good?
I think I cannot use my monopod for selfie shots with the passport.

Here are a few shots I took with my passport today. Quality seems much better than my Z30! Much better than the pics my Q10 takes, but I usually prefer to use my Nikon dslr for photos anyway.

True. No phone camera will compete with those.

Yup, I only use my Q10 for quick snapshots, whereas, I use my dslr for 'serious' shooting with various great lenses (love my 50 mm lens, fantastic for low-light shots). Never understood why folks use their phones for trying to get excellent quality photos, but then everybody is different.

My wife is a photographer and has several real cameras as I call them. Her choice is Canon for the most part. I rarely take pictures at all but figured I would see how it did while I was out hiking for waterfalls for my wife yesterday.

Lol. Yes, that's what I call the dslr cameras too. Can't really go wrong with either Canon or Nikon, great bodies and fantastic glass. I think your nature pics taken with the PP turned out really nice!

that is good news, I'm a little bit disappointed though as I don't like the passport and if it 1:1 only would have helped me cure my Blackberry addiction which is starting to twitch. I know if I don't like it I should just move over to the Samsung galaxy range, but I just don't think I'm able to do it I think it's inevitable that I'm going to end up with one lol.
Just sold my galaxy S5 and its quite possibly the worst phone Ive ever used. Build quality, handling, screen, software..pretty much everything is garbage. Mine developed the mm-qcamera-daemon bug after a month of usage and the only solution is a factory reset, I paid 750 usd cash for that phone, sold it for 350 a month later. Welcome to Android.

Youre much better off with a 2013 Moto G if you want android but I'd suggest going the Apple route. Even an older iPhone 5c will outclass any android on usability and reliability. iPhones feel very well built as well and you wont have to worry about random bugs showing up demanding a full factory reset.

Personally, after selling my S5, i got a new iphone 5S and will be selling my Q10 for the Passport.

BB10 and iOS are two of the best OSes out there.

Some phones take nice photos - see Nokia 808 PureView vs Olympus E-PL2 vs Canon 5D Mark III vs Apple iPhone 4S: 38MP shootout - GSMArena Blog

Now I'm not saying a phone will outperform a full blown DSLR, but if it is most of the way there in quality, then the convenience makes it a winner. The 808 was never a normal camera phone, but it shows what can be done.
