It is a very basic question: could Passport be used without an active SIM card (pulled out or invalid)? Is there an "Airplane" mode so I can disable cellphone functionality (WiFi only). Even if I get a SIM card, I want to use it only in WiFi network. The same question would apply to the new Classic.

Yes, you can... On any phone.

You will have "Emergency Call" icon ever present, but no data functionality will be affected, as long as you have WiFi.

Thank you. Can it be used without SIM card at all? iPhone needs the SIM card and my old Bold 9900 cannot work properly without carrier.

I just checked another Forum post and I now understand that BB10 does not require SIM card. Great.
