OK now that I got ur attention, Just Imagine? I mean if BlackBerry let's this bad boy loose I can only pray that no carrier gets exclusive rights to it. BlackBerry listen up. BlackBerry Passport For ALL Carriers. Same goes for the Classic

You might be right. The Z30 was by default. If none of the other carriers give a crap then it could be.

I'm not counting on the Classic being offered by my carrier. Maybe no American carrier. Hopefully one will be released with the frequencies I need.

I expect that I will get it unlocked so a carrier exclusive might not be a good thing. But the exclusivity periods are limited so we shall see.

IMHO, the Classic and Passport have too broad a geographical (potential) user base to be limited to a single carrier, no less a CDMA based carrier. One must start thinking outside the box (store).

I firmly believe the Z30 would have made a bigger difference had Blackberry not made the deal to make it a Verizon exclusive. Especially considering the total lack of support from them on what is a pretty decent phone. I would have one now had AT&T offered it but since I don't I'm looking forward to the Passport..on AT&T. ( I still have my grandfathered data and I REALLY don't want to give that up.)

I'm not going to switch. Apparently there is a Canadian carrier who uses the same bands as T-Mobile. For example the Z30 STA100-5 and the Q5 SQR100-1. Both devices work like they were made for T-Mobile. No lost bands no workarounds no compromises.

Only thing you won't get is wifi calling but you won't get that from the other carriers either.

I agree with you, I live close to Canada and if the unlocked GSM is not released right away, I will just buy a Telus or Rogers version and have it unlocked. Either way, I am going to have one, I can't wait.

Even if it is a Verizon exclusive, I hope they put in proper GSM bands too. If an iPhone 5c/5s from Verizon can work with T-Mobile, I am hoping the Passport and Classic will do the same!

Phones should never be carrier exclusive. That way electronic stores can sell them more easy and for better prices. Extra benefit is that updates would not require slow testing by the carriers.

Verizon helped them design and build the Storm, different scenario altogether. Verizon, as far as it is known, has no vested interest in the Passport.

Does BB have any retail sales force in the States anymore? There is more to launching a phone besides adding SKU. Most likely this will be a web store availability, don't expect phones in launch displays and reps who have been trained and can answer questions about the new device.

How I wish there was at least one BlackBerry store to compete with Microsoft and Apple here....
