Passport as it has 3450 milliamp hours and the Z30 only gas 2880. Even though the passports screen is more high density with pixels I think that it will still outlast the Z30

That will probably depend on the software optimization and battery saving tweaks on the new software. We'll only know for sure when we get it

I have to agree with Harry, I am 100% sure the Passport will outrun the Z30. By how much is a different question. The Lumia 1520 has a 3400mAH battery and is one of the best phones in terms of battery performance, even though it sports a 6" screen.

What about the difference between an LCD screen vs the OLED screen?

OLED only has an advantage as long as the displayed image is very dark. So if you spend a lot of time in apps like calendar, Blaq or BBM with dark themes enabled, the Z30 should have an advantage. Once it has to display bright colors things go the different way: If you spend a lot of time browsing the web (most websites are simply white-themed) or within you Hub composing mails for example, the OLED drains more battery.

Comparing battery life is virtually the hardest thing to compare between two phones, because you need to get equal testing presets. The next thing would be individual using habits. If somebody checks his or her phone a couple of time per hour for a few minutes it is different to a person who rarely turns the screen off at all. One user might call a lot, where display consumption is much less compared to a user who chats a lot.
Larger batteries always drastically increase standby times, which will be a huge plus for the Passport.

I had an unlocked Nokia 1520 and used it for a week and I actually found the z30 battery out performed it. That 6" screen eats allot more juice then most folks realize.

This is just based on my test and other folks out there may had different results.

Does anyone know why BlackBerry decided to use the LCD instead of the SuperAMOLED technology on the Passport? In my opinion, the Z30 display is stunning. I owe a Z10 with an LCD display and my colleague's got a Z30, and it seemed to me only natural that BlackBerry should stick to AMOLED and gradually move away from LCD.

Its because LCD screen is better suited for showing X-ray scans and stuff like that.

LCD is also much more matured compared to rather new OLED technologies. For example it doesn't suffer from the burn-in issues.

There was a huge discussion about this on CB when it was revealed that the passport will have a LCD screen. You can search for it, i dont know where the thread is.

Think that the consensus end up being that LCD was more vibrant and showed stuff much cleaner or better than the OLED.

Im not making this up, its just stuff I have read.
