In all honesty I was happy to hear BB would be making a device that ran Android. After looking at the leaked pics (HERE) its just not growing on me. I know the Venice device is not released yet, but just looking at the pictures I would say the Passport is a better device. The BB OS is more fluid and less buggy, not to mention you can run many Android apps on the BB OS as it is now. Additionally, the hardware of the passport is top notch, even more so with the new Passport Silver Edition, while the Venice device hardware looks just "meh".

I think I am sticking with my Passport!

I am sticking with my Passport. The upcoming slider does nothing for me personally. I am not in any need for google play services and the few android apps that I need work well for me right now. I totally understand that other BB fans want and need GPS for apps they must have, so making the android slider is good, just not for me. I prefer the OS as it is now in my Passport, and I am in no great hurry to have a device with both physical keyboard and virtual.

I agree with OP. I really don't like way the Venice was designed. I really don't care how good they are. Device looks ugly passport looks a lot better IMO. I wish passport will have option to install bb10 and android os.

I actually like the design of the slider, I also like the look of the S6 Edge. But, that's where it stops, I never liked Android OS. It's not a bad OS, it's just not for me. I'm hoping BlackBerry makes a device with a BlackBerry OS.

Although I am a happy Passport user, I would like to test the slider and just see what is good for. It intrigues me how it would be to type on such a long phone. The Passport already requires careful handling as the keyboard is at the bottom edge of the device. Looking at the pictures of Venice seems that typing without the phone tilting down could be difficult. Just a real test will answer the question.

The Venice, as opposed to the Passport, suffers from having a narrow and tall screen. Narrow screen makes it hard to view documents. Tall screen makes it hard to type and edit documents (using the sliding keyboard). So, in term of productivity, Venice is inferior.

This is the long and short of it. I'm buying it just because it's a BlackBerry. I've actually owned an iPhone and Android. But I returned both. I just didn't give em a fair shot. I used the iPhone literally all night. Set it up and everything. By morning I knew it wasn't for me.

In the last two months, I've looked long and hard at several devices: Nexus, LG G4, the new iPhones, the new Samsung phones, the OnePlus, and a couple others. Most of this perusing has been because of the uncertainty concerning BlackBerry 10 going forward. At the end of the day I don't need a new phone. Like many here I buy BlackBerry just because I've come to trust and depend on the devices for work and play. I've bought every BlackBerry 10 offering except the Q5 and Leap- none has disappointed. This slider has taken me on a roller-coaster of emotions. Knowing what we know now I see no scenario under which I won't buy this phone. That being said it won't replace my Passport but I am looking forward to the whole new experience this device will bring.

I have a Passport and love it but every now and again I miss the ease of use that my z10 gave me. I also miss that big screen for watching videos etc that cannot be achieved on the Passport. I'm sometimes tired of resizing android apps but glad I'm even able to. Most of all I'm tired of not having access to certain apps at certain times or dealing with annoying BlackBerry versions of apps and having to use the Android version instead.

I'm sure as hell gonna switch from the Passport to the Venice cos it's just everything in one. You get the Apps, Physical Keyboard, BB's virtual keyboard, big screen, BlackBerry experience suite etc.. I just don't understand how people cannot see the obvious benefits.

The Passport will become my back up phone cos I'm not getting rid of it.

    Here's my opinion:

BB10 is a better OS than Android, hands down. More intuitive, more fluid, and the Hub is a dream. Sadly, it never took off. Like Betamax, or HDDVD, the better technology will go the way of the dodo. They really missed it on apps. Or there was never a place for a third player in the app developers' eyes. Windows phone is a fail in that department too.

So we're left with a great OS, but with horrible app performance on most apps. Because they're Android apps, running on an un-optimized device (for Android apps) with an ancient runtime.

So sadly, my dream would be go get Android on my SE Passport. Hopefully the new Hub is close to being what is the BB10 Hub is...or was

Nah, very happy with my Passport. I do not want Google spy apps and on the Passport I type immediately, no need to open a slider. A year or so on the Passport and still no urge to get another device, which is very awkward for me and I like it even more after a year.

I have Passport and OnePlus One. I will keep Passport and change my OnePlus One with Venice. I like BB10 but somehow it lacks off some apps over android. Although BB10 can install android, but it will drain the battery and sometimes the phone is hot.

A pretty major difference besides the OS and internal hardware is the formfactor. While the Venice has a larger screen, the Passport still has that large and high-res 1:1 screen ratio. I just came back from a Note Edge, featuring a traditional rationed 5.6" screen and IMHO the Passport's screen is actually better for everything not multimedia related. Better documents, better mails, better browsing and reading in general.

Both great devices but the edge goes to the slider it has a 16:9 screen and can view media and play games in their intended format no black bars or resizing required.

I just watched a 9 hour documentary series on Kennedy while on planes and trains. The doc has a 4x3 aspect ratio (as it was 90's history channel). The Passport was the absolute best device on the market for this particular mobile viewing experience.

I think the Passport is great for 16x9 content, too. Definitely not as bad as what people like to say.

I absolutely LOVE my passport and I bought it day one the morning of the announcement...that being said, I REALLY want the slider to compliment the areas where the Passport is lacking - namely media consumption and size.

The slider is by no means a small phone either, but the Passports width makes it a poor choice for things like going to the gym (doesn't fit in the phone holders on most machines!). Also, while the screen is gorgeous and perfect for pounding out emails and browsing the Web, the aspect ratio is less then ideal for watching movies or playing some games during down time.

I will probably keep the Passport for my work phone, and have the slider as a secondary personal device for a while before I decide if one is more of a jack-of-all trades then the other. I'm leaning towards the slider as much as I hate to say it since I honestly feel BB10 is a much more fluid and productive OS then Android. Hopefully the Hub, keyboard, and Universal Search will make it more useful then the Android devices I have used in the past.

I was pretty set on the Slider until I received my Passport. Although the Slider will likely have a better camera and performance, the Passport form factor has really grown on me. I can't go back to my Z30 without feeling the long skinny screen being awkward to look at.
