    For those of you that have the passport SE what is your back up phone of choice?

    Cheers

    In my opinion, the best backup phone depends on what you want. I assume backup phones should not be expensive, since you're not going to use them every day.

    If you just want to transition as seamlessly as possible between phones, I'd say the Q10, because the OS is the same, you get a nice keyboard, and they're dirt cheap on the used market.

    If I was looking for something to entertain me AND serve as a backup, it would probably be the Nexus 5. You can install all kinds of Android ROMS and alternative OS's on that device.

    Otherwise, I'd try to find some feature I wanted and would use the backup device for: really good sound, a great display for watching movies on a plane and not killing my main device battery, compatibility with a ton of networks for travelling (so I could leave the SE at home -- I'm really hard on the phone when travelling for some reason), etc.

    Passports been out for three years, and BB10 is what it is and is only going to get worse...

    I'd suggest getting a backup that could be your primary at some future point.... KEYone?

    Can't stand the keyone. The keyboard is horrible not to mention it's overpriced. I can't stand ios or Android. Bb10 is the best and I'll stick with it literally till it stops working. I'm not a huge app person so no biggy for me. Yes whatsapp support is ending but there is whatsup now so no need for me to jump ship

    I'm actually leaning towards to Q10 cause I never owned that device and I love the form factor.

    Few are going to see BB10 as a real option for a primary, much less a backup device in 2017 forward.

    I get it meets your needs and I understand your wanting to stick with it. But if you ask an open ended question, your going to get answers that won't include BB10 devices.

    Personally I think a Passport / Classic pairing would be great... as that gives you two form factors. But if this is a backup for when your Passport dies... I'd get another Passport. Just better hardware.

    Been using PP SE for a year now (from 9720). Got a blue Classic as a backup originally. As time passed I realised I would really miss the PP keyboard if something happened to it and I wouldn't be happy using the Classic. So I went and got an original PP as a backup. Unfortunately I couldn't find another SE but the OG one will do

    Awesome. I'm actually thinking I should get the red passport..just looks so nice..i had the OG passport already..would be cool to switch it up somedays and pull out the red passport. Both are attention grabbers. It's actually funny when you go out and people see the phone and they actually said to me wow that's cool what's that? Feel like if they launched this with android it would have been more successful

    Wow 3 lol.. I don't blame you beautiful device. I actually have a case but I took it off I just think the phone looks so much better without the case..i know I'm taking a risk. I do have tempered glass on it.

    Great device my second fav bb ever after the passports. I wouldn't mind getting a blue classic but the prices are too high and it's literally the same damn phone but blue lol

    My backup phone is a 9900. Especially on weekends, when I don't want to go hiking or biking with a large fragile expensive phone.
    And battery life is fabulous.

    I currently use my old Nexus 4 as a backup, for when Uber doesn't work well on the browser, or for specific apps that require google services, particularly location, and haven't been patched by others, for instance Earthquake Alert. I will eventually complement it with either:

    • A cheap and reliable phone, for instance a Moto G;
    • or more likely an android audio player like the pioneer xdp-100;
    • or a phone with decent audio, like the LG V10 / V20; LG seems to have big quality problems, and if you don't care much about audio (decent headphones, lossless files etc) the previous two options don't make sense for you;
    • or an android tablet if they ever come up with something equivalent to the nVidia K1 at its original price ($200); I'd rather have a decent display (small delta) but that probably means an iPad, which is twice as expensive as that nVidia;
    • or even an iPhone se; "even" because I've never had iPhones, I consider them more fashion accessories than phones (but hey, to each his own, it's not a criticism).

    In the end the lack of whatsapp and native dropbox has already started to sting, after two major earthquakes in two weeks and no way of seeing them on my Passport, I finally started to come to grips with more practical issues.

    For back up just get another passport. For secondary phone. Cheap xiaomi mi phone with big battery with big battery is good enough.

    Another Passport of course. Such a unique phone.

    Alternatively, I would suggest a Q5/Q10 for a more pocketable backup.

    I pair my silver Passport SE with both an iPhone 6 Plus (camera no longer functioning) and a Google Pixel. The latter gives you app access, Oreo and in the future Android P (Peppermint?), and an awesome camera.

    I am re-thinking the classic now. Because I have a deal pending for 75 bux for the classic including an otter box protector. Have till Friday to decide as
    that's when I've agreed to meet with the seller. But I've never owned the Q10 either

    i didnt enjoy my q10. i think the specs are less than the classic. maybe it was the OS back then. i'm digging the classic...just wish i could disable the trackpad. why did they omit that! the passport basically has that switch in settings...
