I talked to tmobile about how att was dealing with the issue. They said they can't change the imei number on the line. There system automatically picks up the imei number from the phone.

Try your sim into the S5 phone as well, just in case.

    Update:

S5 sim card is micro and passport is mano. So no luck on switching Sims. One thing though, we where in a different area and s5 still had lte.

Fixed it. I stuck my mano card into a iphone 5 and then put it back in my passport. Seems like tmobile sets the band's automaticly depending on the phone. Since there system has no idea what a passport is it just sets 4g. Not even the tech guys know what phone I'm talking about.

That is interesting finding and if true - T-Mobile Uncarier hype just got flushed down the toilet. This is worse than AT&T's practices.

All I did was take my mini sim out of my Q10, chop it down to a nano sim, and put it in the Passport. Had LTE from the first time it booted up.

FWIW I grabbed a sim cutter kit from Amazon for $8, came with an adapter to go back to mini as well if I'd like to use my Q10 at some point in time.

Funny enough, on T-Mobile's account page it shows my phone in use as a big question mark. Last device they knew I had was a Q10 that was purchased from them directly.
