How much storage should the OS take up?

I found the Misc folder in Device to contain an Android Folder is about 18 G but can't figure out what is in it to take up that much space.

I had this issue after trying to transfer large files via WiFi. Since there's no way to access those temporary files, only an backup/reisntall/restore operation would do.

Why would the OS need to create a temporary version of the file in the phone internal memory? Security reasons?

It looks like the case of an Android app creating a temporary fake file. I would delete everything if you can't find it. Delete only the non locked folders under the Android directory until the memory is free again. Or you can sit through and check each files by clicking properties and see their file size. Fyi, the file may be in disguise so don't broaden your search. This is common with Android and plenty of complaints about them if you search it up.

All the files that are unlocked are not large. There is something hidden that is taking up the space.

I'm curious what is the content of:

Emails, notes, memos (local remember app content), flagged emails and the content or # of cached emails (how long synced and size of mailbox synced to you BlackBerry device).

Also was any information migrated before you came to BB10 from an older BBOS device?

    Just curious.

Nothing to do with the blackberry OS or emails etc...just delete the Android folder outright. You won't loose anything. Reboot it will be fine.

You also need a media card for your pic/photos, recordings.

I wouldn't delete the android folder. It probably has saved settings in it.

Trust me, full backup/reinstall/restore can be done in 2 hours. Your storage will be back to normal.

I use space sniffer for these situations. I plug the phone into the computer and use USB storage. Space sniffer scans the phone and gives a great graphical layout of what is using what space. Quick and easy.

Try deleting that app and all its recording files. You may not notice it but it might have been running in the background recording in wav format causing this problem for you.

    WOW. Thank you very much!!

I had the app set to NOT run in the background and NOT run when minimized and it was the problem. I haven't ever used it and there weren't any recordings.

I have deleted it and now:

Thanks to Galaxy user for the tip on Space Sniffer. But it can't seem to nail down what's eating the space, as there's a discrepancy between what a Windows OS program can see vs what the BB10 OS thinks is there.

For me, I found that there are clones of so many files in this Android folder (BPod podcasts, camera pictures, screenshots). I've been deleting folders, but have not been able to free up significant space.

    Z30STA100-5/10.3.1.2558
As an aside, ever since moving up to 10.3, I've been hitting memory limits, with open apps self-closing.

Those aren't clones, those are symlinks (Symbolic Links).

I suppose that would explain why when I deleted files out of the Android folder, the files also disappeared from the root BlackBerry folder.
    Are these links normal?
