Hello CrackBerry! I've been having overheating issues in the top right and extreme battery drain problem with my 3 day passport silver edition.

I've tried resetting, restarting, restoring, security wiping, setting as new phone.

I switched from a Q10. I've installed the same set of apps. My Q10 battery drain was normal for its battery size.

I don't have Skype or Kindle on my phone.

I've tried switching of run when minimized but to no avail.

I'm running the latest software version available. 10.3.2.2836.

Please help me. I really want to enjoy my passport but these issues won't let me.

I've seen other users post a screen shot of device monitor showing 12 hours remaining 30% battery while my passport drained 20% within 2 hours this morning.

I am also faced the same issue on my PP SE. After 1 week or 10 days it was settled for me.

Was it settled automatically? Did you do anything different? Did you have extreme heating in the top right corner as well?

Hi I'm also experiencing the same issue with my battery. I have synced two mail accounts facebook and normal usage. But I get only a day charge while others boast for 2.5 day battery backup after single charge..this is the screen shot of battery usage.

Alright I'll try to be patient about it... it's just that I haven't experienced such issues with other phones before. This is my second BlackBerry OS10 device after the Q10 and I don't recall having such issues with that one.

There was a software update the moment I set up my phone, hopefully it will settle down soon. Typing on this 3-row keyboard is easier than I thought and I wouldn't want to switch back to the Q10 because of overheating and battery life issues.

I have 3 mailboxes synchronized but no one Facebook account. I really envy those getting long battery with their passport. Mine barely lasts 10-12 hours on a full charge.

Hope our issue gets resolved thru an update or thru the settling down thing as others have mentioned. It's kind of a relief to know that I'm not alone with this issue on the passport silver edition.

Yeah I'm on day 2 with the ppse, as you said keyboard isn't as bad as other have made out but I'm not as quick on this yet - I was a Q10 Pro though.

Just realised that I'm not getting email notification sounds - all the others are fine

Wow! I just realized the exact same thing, I'm not receiving email notification sounds even though the sound profile is normal.

Yeah the keyboard is clicky with excellent feedback. The key size is kinda perfect too. I'm making a few typos though, still in transition from the Q10 four row QWERTY to this space bar in the middle.

Hope our battery and overheating issues settle down.

Wow you're a lucky passport owner. How I wish I could get similar usage on my device as well.

Could you tell more about your daily usage patterns and the applications you have installed and use.

I'm using this device for over a month now...no issues with the performance...but I wish I could get 2 days charge with single charge..can it be because the signal is fluctuating in my office area???

So you are getting a full day? Could you please post a screen shot of your battery usage.

It could be due to the poor cellular network, but I wouldn't bet that it will cause the battery life to be cut in half.

Few things that likely play a role in your battery drain:

    1) it is known that BlackBerry 10-Smartphones have an increased battery drain in the first days (up to a week in my experience with SE) after an OS update or even after buying the phone and starting it for the first time. The OS optimises things in background, you will see things downloading, email sync etc.

    2) the email settings are 'oversyncing' your accounts, or one of the accounts is acting weird. Does not seem to be the case with you, the PIM would tell you.

    3) android apps may also act weird after an install or update. Does not happen often, but sometimes it does, especially if new permissions are wanted from new install. Don't know what happens but android player will start acting weird and drain your battery.

    4) android player from 2836 caused battery drain in my case. It is known that when installed the newest os, the AP does not allow to delete android apps anymore. It also may reduce battery life. I recommend flashing the 2813 version of Android player. You can find the detailed description in the 2836 thread.

It is not related to OS update. It will settle after 1 week.
