I get a Blackberry Passport from Shop BlackBerry and it is still on OS

...No problem if will check for Updates ...Naaahh

Since I get it (around 12 day ago) I always get that message
"The update server is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

I also try updating when connecting to BlackBerry Link,.. no more luck

I did try Sim out, reboot, check update. Turn off, sim in, reboot, recheck ...Nahh!!! still unavailable.

Also wondering why Software Release: No information available

Same issue when trying to update from the web from :
BlackBerry - Software Updates - New Update Software for BlackBerry Smartphones - Canada

In French.. but that is saying the same thing here
"An error append during the updates of our software"
"The update server is temporarily unavailable ..."

Similar result from global.blackberry.com/software site. But the message vary here.

"The application loader was unable to connect to your device. Repeat the upload process, reconnect your device and try again."

Hey , I've had that same issue before. I'm afraid you'll have to reload your device software through BlackBerry link.

I'm also guessing your BBM never connects too.

This was the only solution. A security wipe doesn't help, nor will an autoloader. You have to reload through BlackBerry link.

You cannot restore a backup after that, unfortunately. Otherwise you'll have the same problem. Try to backup your contacts and calendar to a cloud or to your desktop but not through BlackBerry link.

I just reload the device thru BlackBerry Link, and a software update pop up right away after its first reboot.
It now loading up OS [1.4Go]

I don't mind much about the backup concern you mentioned above. Other then my text messages, everything else is either from Exchange server, cloud services or onto my SD card. When you are dealing with around 1500 complete contacts info,... you are not relying on keeping it only onto a mobile device.
More then that my other devices have all these data live and up to date, just fully back-up.

    Just a note here.
On the OS update screen it is said the following:

"Cette mise jour logicielle est obligatoire"
-> This software update is mandatory
