My passport has started acting strange, however it only happens when I have the active frames maxed out, the screen starts flickering to black, I reboot and all is fine for awhile, all display tests pass...

It's a known bug of 10.3.1 leaks. They are not optimised for the Passport so you have to live with it for a while, maybe the next leak will be good for us too. I went back to 10.3.0 because of this issue and some battery drain.

I have the same problem but when I use the camera and sometimes use an app... all I do is close the app and wait for few seconds and open it again and the problem is sorted! :P

I found out that when you turn off the battery saving mode the flickering and the green flashing on the screen stop.

I have the problem on my passport and don't have a leaked OS, happens from time to time when loading an app from the hub,and sometimes remains until I have to navigate away or even lock the screen.

That's an unacceptable OS issue in my opinion and BB should fix this before the next update.

That makes sense! Probably power issue bug in battery saver mode, I'll give it a go!!

Did you restore any data, settings from another device?? If so something could be messing your Passport up. So wipe and see if that fixes the issue...if it doesn't then it's a defective device so either get it fixed or replaced.

Someone said that if you side load just the core OS of 10.3.1.1010, still available in this forum, over 10.3.1.1016, that the flickering is diminished. Maybe cut the battery saving mode as well. But this seems to be happening even with 10.3.0.xxxx on the Passport, so I don't know that sticking with 10.3.0 is the answer.

Just an FYI, I get this a little on my Z30 even without max frames. I just consider my OS to be a beta OS and there WILL be little oddities that I will have to live with.

You can't just downgrade the OS from 10.3.1.1016 to 10.3.1.xxxx by side loading only the OS!

This will surely cause problems best solution is to use an autoloader to downgrade.

Someone people correct me if I'm wrong!

    OK, you're wrong! :-)

No, you can't downgrade that way, exactly. But the core OS of these two leaks are very similar, and the apps associated with them are as well, and the radio of 1016 apparently works with the core OS of 1010. Some here have done this and reported an improvement without other ill effects. Remember, too, that ATT mistakenly and briefly released 1010 for Passport last week, even though they aren't yet carrying it.

It diminishes indeed but it doesn't go away. I tried all, clean installations of 1016 and 1010, core over... still get flickering from time to time. I have no problem waiting a bit since I see the new spotted versions are growing up fast I think a fresh leak is imminent.

It's a bug in the 10.3.1 releases related to the Passport, and probably to the different GPU chip in it as opposed to the other devices.

The others have had the drivers in the software for a couple of years. The Passport is new and the integration is too -- especially with 10.3.1, which is not yet officially out from anyone for it.

Disabling battery saver mode does help but does not eliminate it -- it still happens, just not as frequently. It looks like a problem with restoration of the GPU's configuration registers when the phone comes out of sleep.

FWIW on my new Passport I loaded in 10.3.1.1016 and had major flickering. I then side loaded just the core OS of 1010 and disabled battery saving mode. No more flickering, so far. Until it's fixed, seems like a workaround without much downside.

Try reinstalling the Core OS only !!!

Same issue when battery saving mode enabled on the new PassportSQW100-1/10.3.1.1151 OS

When I disable battery saving mode then it's fine, no flickering.

P.s I must add that it only happens when the battery is low under 20% and battery saving mode kicks in!

Yeah. My passport did the same thing when the phone was on a heavy load. Restart fixes the issue but sometimes it comes back. Last time my camera app flickered with the green bar on the bottom. I have the OTA leaked 10.3.1 from AT&T. I thought about downgrading but that was more pain in the **** in my part so I kept the os as it is.
