Good morning folks. Yesterday I received the 10.3.3.2137 OS update. Since the the update my Passport is running hotter than usual when accessing some apps and the Native browser. Does the OS update need time to settle? Is this normal behaviour? Thank you,

Mine did too until I did a hard reset, then the phone seemed to settle in. I also noticed that a simple reset would cause more issues than fixes.

Hard reset is holding power button until unit reboots. Right?

What update? Didn't you set it up with the 10.3.3.3216 (SR2137) autoloader?

Sorry, yes it is the 10.3.3.3216 OS. I quoted the Software by mistake. So, does the OS need time to settle? I seem to remember my 9900 sometimes was wonky right after the autoloader.

Also, since I am relatively new to the OS10 experience. I have noticed that when I reboot the devise it gets hot top right corner and then cools down. Is this also normal behaviour? Thanks,

Yes, it can get a little warm after a fresh OS install.

I remember rebooting my phone at least once after I was sure I had everything set up right. Then one more time maybe a day later.

I still don't understand what you meant by "received the update".

When I hooked up to BlackBerry Link, it announced I had an update. This is the 3rd one I've gotten in this manner. Never downloaded the autoloader.

This is an unlocked Telus unit running my Rogers sim.

Carrier might be sending out small updates... for their settings. But I wouldn't think it would be anything big that would really cause the device to heat up.

    I'd do a hard Reboot...

That doesn't fix it I'd do a clean install with an autoloader... but after that it will take up to a day to settle in, once you have reinstalled your apps and set up all your accounts. Lot of syncing going on.

Isn’t 32 second reboot also possible on BB10 hardware without removable batteries?

Kind off. Just hold the power button down until the phone starts its reboot cycle.

Do we cycle it through a few reboots like the 32 second hard boot on the K1 and K2, or let go as soon as it boots the first time?

This must be a NASA top secret procedure as I have searched CB and the Internet and not one conclusive answer, as a matter of fact, the question here is dodged more often than not! What gives? This can't be rocket science!

No need to let it repeat.

Anytime your device boots up, always give the Android Runtime at least 10 minutes to initialize properly. I always monitor current CPU usage and wait until it drops below 5% and stays there.

OK, but that is the same as a restart and that is a soft boot. Right? Both methods show BlackBerry icon loading the OS as the blue line travels around the logo announcing what it is doing at each quadrant. Does that mean they are all a hard boot? Why would all methods of rebooting the phone have the same behaviour yet we call one of them a hard boot? It's not making any sense to me.

A full power cycle and holding down the power button are the same thing. Just taping restart is soft.

OK, that makes sense. However, why is the behaviour exactly the same with both boot methods (Power button and Restart screen press)? Can you please try your BB10 devise and confirm? Thank you,

    Perfectly normal.

But if you run some "android" games you will find that your phone will heat up rather nicely and your battery will be dead in 2 hours.

For instance "Wordscapes" will kill the passport battery from full charge in 2 hours or less.

If you want to have fun with a game...try "The Bard's tale". It is native and really really funny. And it is native.
