Negative headline, but actual content of review is fair enough. Too bad most people will just read the headline and reinforce what they think of BlackBerry.

"But now, I've been living with a Passport for a month (the handset I've been testing is the unlocked GSM version of the Passport) and I don't just like it -- I use it as my number one smartphone. I use it for voice calls, messaging and mobile Web surfing. What I've learned in that time is that my original conclusions were spot on - and a whole lot more. I can now say that Passport really is the best device BlackBerry has ever released. If you're a CrackBerry fan, you owe it to yourself to consider using one."

I think this is very good!

    Thanks for the link.
Sentiment and perception of BlackBerry is beginning to change.
I'm beginning to see a silver lining in the consumer market.

Too bad because you actually missed the second part of that sentence where he says, I don't just like it, I love it

You probably read "I just don't like it", as I did the first time. But look again!

    To clarify...

"... I don't just like it -- I use it as my number one smartphone."

It means he decided to use it as his *main* smartphone.

He seems to go out of his way to word like he hates it. I don't get it.
Maybe it is his thing he does with all his writing.
Or he is a closet BB lover trying not to seem like he love the PP so much.

He's writing for The Street, which has had a D rating for BlackBerry stock for quite a long time. Maybe it's the only way he can get his article through with his editors?

There might be some guilty pleasure about reading news of 'beleaguered' companies. So he's doing the 'right' thing and publishing a suggestive (bait) title. I think the article is good for Blackberry.

Great review. I think he was quite candid with his feedback on the device while articulating both its strengths and shortfalls.

Why do these authors always feel so inclined to use a title that sounds negative?

Other than that, it's a very nice article.

The final score given in the article is 8.5/10. That's pretty damn good IMHO
