    Please can anyone confirm this:
When I plug XBA-H1 (in-ear headphone with 2 drivers: 1 dynamic + 1 Balanced amature) into 3.5mm jack on Passport Red, I hear very loud white noise and Left channel is severely distorted.
Connect PP's 3.5mm to DAC/AMP, then to headphone does not solve the problem.
However, every cheap in-ear headphone does not suffer this issue.
I vaguely guess that it's due to cheap in-ear headphone has only 1 driver.

    Anyone having similar issue?

    You would assume correct.

It's just a poor audio amplifier card in the Passport. Nothing bad about this phone in particular, all smartphones have it, but BlackBerry also has a fairly crap audio driver unfortunately. Just something you'll have to live with

Is it possible to route audio to USB OTG instead of 3.5mm jack? I have no success trying that.

NOOOO, this is not normal at all.

I have a red Passport and listen to my Shure 535's and JH Audio Roxanne's all the time. The Roxanne's have 3 drivers per side.

The Passport has better sound than my Moto X but obviously not as good as a DAC/DAP.

It's really weird that my Passport works flawlessly with every cheap in-ear headphone!
