I was Z10 user before. And signal reception is my main issue, when I at work or at home. I live in Indonesia, and trust me.. , signal reception is our main problem.
But Passport since day one never let me down, it has consistently H+ full bar signal at office and also at house.
I never have a Z30 so I cant comparing. But my point is, this beast has the greatest quality for antenna. I use Note 3 as well, and the signal never go as good as Passport (I use same carrier for both)

Proud to be Indonesian with BlackBerry Passport

Seems OK to me, but I have nothing to really compare it to as I came from a 9900 with no 4G capability.

Even with low signal levels on 4G seems to perform very well data wise.

I'm on ROGERS Wireless and am in a central part of Vancouver and Down town and even when I'm in the subway tunnell I still get coverage but goes from LTE max to Edge or hspda. I had signal confusion once the device cycled bands once downtown at work but Rogers was tweaking somethin at the time. It dropped out of LTE to Edge hspda and no coverage for a few hours in the am that day. But overall my reception has been stellar.

My Passport has fewer bars than either the Q10, or the Z30.
The dbm readings are also lower on the Passport.

Somewhat disappointing. I expected better performance.
It hasn't been a huge problem since I have pretty good signals where I work and live. Travel might be an issue.

Out of curiosity for those reporting worse reception, who is your carrier?
If your signal is better, who is -your- carrier?

I'm wondering if there is a correlation.

    I'm on T-Mobile and it's weaker.

I don't see a difference. I'm with Rogers. I own a Q10 and Z10 that were also used with Rogers and it's all the same.

I haven't been to all my usual low reception spots yet but so far so good.

I live 25 minutes west of Montreal.

It looks like the signal is quite strong until you hold the phone. The metal trim around the phone is the antenna.

Updates from leaked OS radio are awesome. Much better reception here in rural Iowa!

Yeah, I have that installed. It weird how much it drops by hanging on to the phone.

I have to say that I don't find that problem with my passport,i find I have a 100% better signal than I did on my z30 on daily basis I would drop calls around a dozen times a day but now I have only dropped a call once ...........so my passport is loads better than my z30
LOL, give me a break. A dozen dropped calls a day on a Z30? Get real.

My Z30 gets great reception, but sadly I don't have a Passport to compare it to. :-(

I've had 3 Z30's. All had excellent reception.
    Same with the 2 Q10's.

The passport is equal or a few dB better sitting on the table, and a good 5 dB worse in the hand.

I now have had two Passports from different suppliers and the Passports reception is definitely worse than previous phones. Unbelievable for a highend device!!
Same location, same network: Passport shows only Edge and network speed is low, while e.g. my LG Flex shows 2 bars of LTE and network speed is much faster.

I'm gonna return the second Passport, too. This is not my understanding of outstanding reception quality I was used to from previous Blackberrys.

For me the passport has been better than the q10 and older BlackBerry. For example in the lifts I am still able to get reception!

I've read so many editorials on bad reception and really is a bit twighlight zone for me.

My reception has need stellar since day one! Even while on the subway it goes to 3G but I still have moderate coverage! It really could be the network you are on! Rogers Wireless has ultra fast LTE speeds within the central city milits and I've never had any issue with my device dropping signal

As I said I tested it on the same network and the Passport is worse than Z10, LG Flex, Bold 9900, Xperia Z Ultra. :-(

I agree the reception is worse than others. Especially the Z30 which for me was really good. Having said that, it has not affected my day to day usage of the device.
