Why couldn't we have the passport with a pointer like the classic ?

The keyboard is the trackpad. Would just need to press a key on the keyboard to click a link or in a field.

    Your thoughts?

I would absolutely love to have that..and have the capacitive keyboard function as a full trackpad.

I have been hoping for this since before the Passport was released and still think it would be awesome. Also, keyboard shortcuts for text editing!

Like a mouse pointer. BlackBerry OS legacy devices have it.

You mean track pad. Not pointer, that is something totally different.

No. Pointer. On legacy devices, when viewing a web page, the trackpad acted like a mouse and a pointer was present on the screen.

The problem (on the Passport) is not implementing the cursor, the problem is then implementing the mouse "press". Where would you "press", as you do on the legacy trackpad? Currently, key presses are mapped to shortcuts (like spacebar to scroll down, etc), so that could be problematic. Maybe a double tap? That currently invokes the text selector (and in theory would be used to invoke the cursor in certain types of non-text input windows). A single tap? I can see it getting a bit finicky and inconsistent for most people's liking.

Would be a nice option to have, at least when viewing pages in "desktop mode".

Yes I meant to say the mouse like on the classic. Pressing the "tracpad" could be clicking simultaneously on "G" and "H". Try it. It would work very well!
