Back to a passport after 3 years with my iPhone. Have to say passport is really limited out the box but with a little digging around and patching it can become usable with some basic android apps.

Here are a few apps I patched from android and have it working for my passport... I've tested a few but these seem to respond the quickest.

    Enjoy!

The social apps are just old versions that respond decent to the blackberry, I added just in case people want to use them. But I use lucky patcher on android device to patch ,change permissions and remove ads then transfer them to my blackberry.

The FB & FB messenger apps, are these the ones that actually work? IN other words, Not the "lite" versions, correct? What about video calling capabilities?

How on earth do you change the (ridiculously extreme) permissions?? There are two apps I've wanted for a long time (consumer reports & the local TV station news & weather app) but I never even tried to learn how to use Cobalt's system once I found out that the apps still won't run unless I give all the permissions it wants, & I never give ANY app access to my calendar or contacts due to HIPAA & also desire for privacy.

But if there's a way to remove them & still USE the apps I'll be quite excited! Can you please let us know more? Or where to find the details? Thanks!

    Hello!

Yes these are not the ''Lite'' versions. They work smoothly ^^.

I just tried the video call, it's not aviable in this version. But everything else is working perfectly. Give it a try, it's far better than the lite versions.

    Hello,

    1. Go to App manager => installing App => turn on ''allow apps from other source to be installed''.

    2. You have to install cobalt apps, by doing this you will get ''google services'', a blackberry google ID, google playstore... You can find the Cobalt's official thread on crackberry with all instructions. If you need some help, just ask me .

    3. After the installation of Cobalt stuff, all these App will be working.

I think that you need to patch the APP on an Android phone using LuckyPatcher (you can create a modified APK), then you can install it on you BlackBerry.

So I've found that the lite versions of Facebook and Messenger actually work fine on the Passport, installed directly from the Play Store. Not sure what features they're missing compared to the regular apps, but they do everything I need?

No. Lucky Patcher has been useless for eons for patching.

Use Play Services Patcher on your PC to spoof the app signature in order to run it with Cobalt's modified Google Play Services.

Conite, now I'm more confused than before! I haven't learned how to use Cobalt's system because the apps would still want permissions I don't give to any apps. The post on Luckypatcher looked like a way to remove the requirements the apps wanted & then make it work on either my Q10 or the passport I plan to buy soon. Are you saying that I also need the Cobalt system too, or that the Luckypatcher can't do it at all? I have a cheap android 4 ZTE Zinger I could use to download the apps.

An app that requires Google Play Services is intricately tied to those services, and performs security checks to ensure both itself, and the Services are correctly installed.

Whitelisting the unpatched app, and subsequently patching the app with Play Service Patcher on your PC, will allow it to function with Cobalt's modified Google Play Services - which must be installed along with the rest of Cobalt's stack.

Most decent apps these days do need those services. If they don't, however, you can simply install them as is.

Thanks for partially answering, but I wasn't actually asking about google play services. I'm trying to find out if the method you posted gives me the chance to remove the permissions to contacts, calendar etc that originally attracted me when I saw the post saying that the "Lucky Patcher" app could let me create an APK for an app that I could transfer to my BB10 device without the app asking for access I won't allow it to have. So does the play services patcher program you're talking about have any ability to do this? Or does it just lets you whitelist the app in some way?
