So did anyone at the event this morning got to see how this magic keyboard is supposed to work?
I'm still confused with the lack of #s and symbols on the keys

but seriously i am dying to know the answer to this. i would hate if it meant swiping down across 2-3 screens and be forced to tap the touch screen just to add a comma or other simple punctuation

I am really curious about this too. And do the symbols change on the keys, or are they static images?

I think it's a gesture you make on the capacitive keyboard like swipe down on keys while typing will open symbol window.

Or since the screen is so large the sym and alt button will be virtual buttons.

There are many ways to fix this problem. Less keys the better for reliability.

If they somehow have the symbols show up on screen like they do now, with the keyboard still corresponding to them, it will be fine as far as I am concerned. But if you are forced to use the screen for symbols/numbers, the point of having physical keys will be lost.

Only if they show symbols all the time, I would consider it a waste of screen real estate versus just having a 4th row of keys.

Also hoping someone will clarify on this point, someone must have seen them type at least one sentence on it...

I wonder the same! I can say with 99% accuracy that this will be my next device, but it really depends on how everything is implemented and how apps such as snapchat, instagram, mma summit, netflix and etc look on it!

I can't wait to try this phone out. There will be some learning curve for sure.

    So I just realised this:
If I type while using Kanji I get the option to "pop out" an expanded view of suggestions.

No idea if that has always been like that in BB10, but I wonder if they will go that way with the symbols. Takes up an awful lot of the screen...
