Could this issue work in BlackBerry's favor?

It certainly could help but I don't think the number of users that would switch would be more than 1000

    Just guessing though

It's not going to work in BlackBerry's favor, but how embarrassing is it that a new Apple flagship phone is so easy to bend. How sad is that? If Apple was not so crazy about making their new phones so thin, this would not have happened. I would rather have a phone that is a little thicker but solid!

apple faults are addressed by the marketing machine retconning it. Bottom line is that such issues were reported on the iphone 5 even, didn't stop people buying them. It sure won't see people abandoning iphones in droves, and if they did I will lay money they won't run into the arms of BlackBerry to buy a passport

Maybe they won't run to BlackBerry, but if I spent that much on a phone and it bent, I would not be very happy and would run from Apple right away to something else.

I read today that Apple is also pulling iOS 8.01 because of issues. But no, it won't matter.

It won't benefit BlackBerry, but after watching the bending on the internet, my niece has decided no upgrade from a 4s to a 6 for her iPhone. She's going to get an S5 instead.

So it might help Android out a bit.

You know what's funny. There are patents out there that are draw to automatically dialing a distress/emergency number when the user snaps/breaks a part of it.

    Passport and the iPhone "bendgate"-byuloyjimaaxvey_edit.jpg

While BlackBerry may not be able to cash in on "bendgate",.. Hopefully Apple can use the above image to learn how to make a large screen phone that doesn't bend when placed in a pocket.

I'm an iphone user and was planning to get either iphone 6, note 4, or passport. Because of the bend fiasco, it's now between note 4 and passport

Pen or keyboard..... I would go passport because of blend.... and a note 10.1 to use my passport via blend with a pen.....

Yeah and the thing people will be running to won't be Blackberry but very probably Android... Even WP has more chances than Blackberry

The solution to the protruding camera causing the phone to wobble on a flat surface? Easy just bend the phone into a convenient tripod for stability !!!! Perfect execution on functionality and design! Apple exclusive customisation :-)
