It is very slow to focus indeed! I also think that the camera in low light situations is not that great. We had a cloudy snow day and the photos outside, unless I was really up close to the thing I was taking a photo of, the photos were a bit dull. Even tried the various modes and the result was the same.

I think if the image has good lighting then the camera is fine. But if there isn't full bright light then the camera is pretty bad. Below is an image taken with the iPhone 6plus and the Passport. They were taken in the exact same lighting. The Passport really struggles if there isn't a decent amount of light in the shot.

Either you have a defective hardware or wrong settings but I never got such a bad picture... passport can take excellent pictures and this one is simply ugly. There are so many other posts with PP pictures to compare with.

Its not defective hardware. The phone takes fine pictures when the lighting its well lit but when the lighting isn't great it really struggles. I didn't change any settings and just snapped the photo on auto with both phones.

If you want better focus, do it manually this the case on every camera even top of the range DSLR's auto-focus is for dummies imo tbh and was the way I was taught to get good pics

Hi, I'm not trying to overly defend the Passport camera here, but both pics seem to be taken from slightly different angles and/or positions. Perhaps when you were using the passport the subject was more in shadow? Also if you tap a dark area of the screen, the camera uses that light level in order to adjust itself and compensate and that can make a huge difference in the brightness and or darkness of a pic under any lighting conditions. So if you like feel free to try again. Maybe a best of 3 for both phones before forming conclusions and do with no adjustment at all and also with tapping the correct area so the light sensor can calibrate. Also please state what version OS you're running on your Passport. I know you said latest but I would like to know for sure if it's 10.3.1.2267 or 10.3.1.2480.

Been playing around a bit with (ultra) low light photos. You have to keep still as the shutter approaches 0.8 seconds. Select night mode, and you can get interesting results. This is with the stock camera app on 10.3.1 (official). This is looking up at clouds in almost complete darkness. In the full size shot, you can see stars.

Was almost pitch black. The red is reflection from city lights. The moon came up a bit later and was hiding behind the clouds when I snapped this one.

They might not be razor sharp, due to high ISO, but I think they turned out well considering the light.

For some people the camera is imperative because it's part of their job (inspectors, real estate, spies , etc...) . Don't try to project your own needs to others

I thought most people became happy after latest update (more precisely after leak for Passport). Looks like there are still people having issues with camera :/

I've had no issues, find the camera great. But then I do have some experience with photography and lighting so I understand general camera strengths and weaknesses.

One easy rule of thumb is to use lots of light. Light will solve many focus, quality and speed issues.
