Not sure why this went so high, but after 24 bids, someone bought a Passport for $1825 on eBay. A quick search shows other Passports available in the 800-900 range.

That's a definite eye-opener, especially since the seller has a feedback of 1 and has only been a member for three months (Both red flags for many folks that buy on eBay.). This is the second item they've sold on eBay, the other being a Rolex watch (Wouldn't be surprised if it was a fake.). There are two possibilities here:

    1. Winner lives somewhere in which the device is unavailable either in retail outlets or online (some retailers do restrict international shipping of some items.).

    2. Shill bidding drove the price up and the winner may be one of the shills. So keep an eye to see if this gets relisted.

Yep I've seen this before. You can go on Craigslist here in the States for about $900.

I am selling one passport on here and ebay... and I am telling you, ebay is a very dangerous place to sell your stuff... I have been victim of 4 scam attempts in about 2 weeks... here is what they do:

1.- they open an eBay account the day the will place a bid
2.- seconds before the end of a listing, place a large bid, to ensure that they will win
3.- contact the seller asking for invoice
4.- few hours later or minutes, they say cannot see the invoice, please send it through PayPal
5.- once you send it, they now have your PayPal email address account
6.- send you a fake email to that address showing payment through PayPal

This email sent looks exactly as the real thing, but there is a trick: it looks real only in a smartphone, if you look at the same email in your computer it looks funny. I have reported this to both ebay and paypal, but it is actually ebay the one that should control better the process.

This is the first time I have tried to sell something on ebay, or even here, but for different reasons I had 3 passports that I put for sale. By luck I have only one left.

I would recommend anyone selling stuff on ebay to be very careful because my experience has been terrible.

I remember when the Z10 first came out and wasn't available yet through any major US carriers, there were several lesser known MVNOs in the US as well as retailers that sell unlocked devices that were charging hefty premiums ($900-1000+). With the Passport being in stock sporadically in recent weeks directly through BlackBerry and Amazon, some retailers are taking advantage of the situation which is not unexpected (although not so much with BlackBerry devices).
