guys, prices for end customer are with VAT. (which is 21% - more or less - average in all EU)
so generally, you could buy in Czech straight for them and have shipped in all EU without any additional taxation (since EU, you know)

according them, and with some rounding, the end user prices should be somethig like
    classic - 400 eur (ah, 399.99 EUR)
    passport - 600 eur (599.99 eur)

if that's the case - 100% that I will buy myself a Passport!
I don't think classic will get this low price (399.99?) but 459.99? or 499.99?

The caveat is that the price can vary from country to country; the supply and demand will differ among countries.

    480 EUR = $644.64 USD. Still pricey
the cost of living is higher in EU, let's hope it will be a bit lower in North America. Consider the non-existence market in US, BlackBerry might need to be more competitive here.

Better start saving your pennies. Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Its not gonna be a low quality Z3, its gonna be a AAA premo smartphone with above 1080p resolution and 3GB ram. They should be charging more...

Not really.. VAT there is 21% so the final Passport price (if the source is legit) is going to be 500.8 EUR.

Pretty much a decent price placement if you ask me.

    Posted via CB10
    It would be 580,8 with the 21% VAT (480*1,21 = 580,8)

I never saw Blackberry (or any other company) applying the same price in the US than in Europe. e.g. the Z30 on the blackberryshop is priced at 499$ on the US shop and at 499€ on the France shop. So probably you'll see this happen to the price of the Passport I'd say 599$ and for us poor european at 599€

After the taxes this will be 5k EGP which is equivalent to the iPhone 5s 16 GB.

When the € was first introduced, it was $0.75/€. Poor U.S. customers were paying more then...

I think you miss the point here
Eventhough we should be able to benefit a great change at 1Euro=1.35$ they keep on pricing as if 1€=1$.
So we always pay more: can you imagine a Z10/Q10 at 649 Euro (869$) instead of 649$ (483 Euro)?
    Complete madness!

    for some reason?
When you should pay 35% less and you end up paying 50% more, it's called a rip off.
I know a lot of people that buy their phone in USA or Canada and use a parcel service to ship them in Europe: even after paying the customs taxes you still make a bargain.
So there's a problem with that politic.

Guess what? I don't care what the price in my country will be. They won't sell it here anyway, we didn't get Z30 anyway (can't blame them, not many people buy them)

I can almost guarantee that with Hell, Robbers and Smellus, that it will be 749.99 CDN plus taxes. Carriers here suck more than black holes.

lol at people who thought Passport was going to be $400 device. Premium flagships from established companies don't go that way.

Isn't Bell worse than the two? I remember when the Z30 came out--perhaps this is still true--Bell's off contract price/MSRP was $100 higher than the other two's.

    ????

maybe for the classic, which as rumours say wont even sport newer hardware than the q10. 480*1.21=580 EUR for the passport. in my country vat is 27%, that would be 610 EUR for the passport

    + import duties!
So BlackBerry should subsidize your government? 27% is insane. It is 13% where I live and think that is excessive.

I am amazed at people who at a drop of a pen declare BlackBerry is a fail. Smh.

Any pricing discussion needs to acknowledge that given BlackBerry's smaller sales volume, they tend to pay MUCH more for device components and production. Their raw costs per phone are maybe 20-30% higher than Apple's or Samsung's, for instance.

Samsung in particular has lots of advantage when it comes to component pricing seeing as they manufacture many of their own parts.

Y'all are ******** about $700 pricetags on flagship devices...

Try living in South Africa where a decent salary is some kind of mythical creature and to get a flagship device, you pay most of an entire month's salary for it. The Galaxy S5 is currently $1050 - that's messed up.

The Z3 launched here for $300.

Anyway, typo in the Thread Title. Also, pricing not confirmed. All speculation at this point.

Even with Samsungs advantages its estimated the S5 costs $250 to manufacture and thats before marketing/distribution/R&D cost get factored. With its small volume and non-standard parts pretty much guarantee the Passport costs upwards to $300 to make and BB wants to make a healthy profit margin just like the other companies so $600+ is expected.
