As an Australian with no access to the Passport from the local carriers (Telstra is apparently a non starter, and even though BlackBerry have confirmed Optus will carry it, Optus don't seem to know it), I'm looking to buy outright.

Luckily, I have a business meeting in Oslo next week, and I transit through Dubai.

Does anyone know the price of the Passport Duty free in Dubai?

I live in dubai and I can tell you that the dubai duty free prices for electronics are nowhere near "duty free" 99 percent of the time the phones are cheaper at any electronic store than at the airport. But I guess if that's your only choice.... expect it to be around AED 2600 and hope that it's one without Arabic symbols in the keyboard.

Bugger, 2600 is roughly the same as the price in A$ from the Sydney importer.

I was hoping for closer to $700.

That's a bummer. I was hoping I could ask my sister to buy it at Dubai duty free area, as she's coming to my country (Indonesia) in less than a month from Germany. With a hope that it'll be much cheaper.

Oh well, I'll just ask her to buy in Germany, or hope it'll soon launched in my country.

Saied, Australia is a long way to ship a box. Probably cheaper to buy it locally.

Hey Saied, I'll check on the way over and let you know. If we can work something out, I might be able to sort something out for the trip back.

The price is not less than AED 2,699/- = US$ 735/- in Dubai, availability is improving everyday and it will be even better over the weekend as many retailers will get their stock on Thursday or Saturday (18th Oct). Regards
