Seems quite easy to replace the back cover. Some long term users of pre production passports (Like Admin Bla1ze) have told that the rubber coating in the back is prone to wear. Looks like it's easy to replace it when it wears out, they should be cheap on ebay.

I don't think it's wear as much as it seems to be slightly porous and absorbs finger grease/gunk. I remember reading another reviewer that stated they had been able to clean it with a mild degreaser/solvent.

I've noticed that, it can can hold the grease of your finger quite well, fortuntately the screen is the opostite.

I said this because Bla1ze wrote this on the passport review. Maybe is because Bla1ze device is a pre-production

"Maybe it was just a fluke and I got a bad finish, maybe it's a sign of how much I use my BlackBerry, or maybe it's just a sign that I need to wash my hands more often, but the back of my Passport has a noticeable spot where you can see the finish 'wearing' away.

I hesitate to say wearing away, because it's not as if it's peeling off or anything like that. There is just a spot by the BlackBerry B's where you can see my fingers are resting on the back of the device when I type, more commonly known as the BlackBerry prayer position. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention this has happened on several of my BlackBerry devices before in the past but alas, it is something I noticed in my use of the Passport as well.

Will it get worse over time? Maybe. Was it just the initial layer of soft touch wearing off? Probably. Would it stop me from buying a BlackBerry Passport? Hell no!"

I had that exact same issue that's why I returned it. Now I ordered one from BlackBerry shop with the coupon, hopefully it's a new batch and they fixed that issue

Hmm, in interviews, they mentioned they were inspired by the I beam device for the stainless steel sides of the Passport. Nowhere do I see something resembling an I beam there...

Lol... there's no way they changed one millimeter of production between the first "batch" and the second. But maybe that means the hard shell or similar is necessary to keep the back cover looking good.

Look at your passport from the top, now turn it 90 degrees. I-beam.

I would assume it takes a few more steps to replace the keyboard. That would not be an easy job. Lets hope the keyboards don't have any double typing or other issues. Compared to the Z30, this phone is very hard to disassemble. The Z30 is the easiest phone to disassemble I have come across so far. Looks like a pretty solid phone though.

The paratek antennae in the phone uses the I-beam steel frame style piece that holds this phone together so solid. Feel free to look at the designing of the passport video for further explanation :P
