I was sad BB got rid of the back charging metal things for cradles on the Q10 for the waxy feel.
While I do like the waxy feel, the sideways charring cradles are just silly.

Anyone have any ideas what to expect for the Passport?
I kept my Bold charged so much more then my Q10 when I'm at my desk.

It's also going to be weird plugging on the bottom..

I too loved the charging cradles. Unfortunately it looks like BlackBerry has moved away from that idea. The cradle was an excellent way to hold your BlackBerry upright for easy viewing of the clock as well as incoming messages. And instead of fumbling with a plug, weakening the micro-USB port, you just dropped it into the cradle. Made it easy and convenient to keep a full charge. And when you left it was so simple to snatch it up on your way out the door. I like the cradles even more than Qi wireless charging.

^^ I second those comments. The Bold 9000 cradle was luxuriant and the best phone charging I have done to date. Drop it in & the clock pops up. Those were the times...

I agree as well. I always loved having a charging cradle at my desk for my legacy BlackBerries.

The side charging ports on the Q10 and Z10 drove me nuts. Having it at the bottom will allow you to still use your phone without the cord getting in the way. Also if they come out with a cradle it will be a much nicer looking at the passport upright vs on its side. I think they are doing a fantastic job with this device and I cannot wait to get it!

I'd imagine a cradle is in the works. The reason the Z10 didn't was it did not support landscape in many functions. Chen said there will be many accessories for the Passport, so stay tuned.

Think so too, look at the port at the bottom of the device.

That was never officially sold. If you want to argue that counts, you're be wrong. Those were only obtained via sources within BlackBerry, so no, there was no Z10 dock released because the phone does not do major functions in landscape mode.

it appears that BlackBerry Passport has a micro USB port at the bottom (LIKE Z3 but UNLIKE Z10 / Z30 / Q5 / Q10).

We may be able to put BlackBerry Passport in portrait (not sideways) on a non-OEM cradle like Mobi Products Desktop Charging Cradle for BlackBerry Z10 | BlackBerry Cradles | ShopCrackBerry .

The bottom port on the Passport serves multiple duties, including charging, data, and video. A cradle would presumably take full advantage of all these functions.

With wifi and with Blend, plus big battery, I think they are going this way around. Remove the cradle and just go with a more simplified way of connecting your phone to the device you are working with!

Wireless charging of a Verizon-branded Z30 (STA100-3) has been quite comfortable with Eco Qi Wireless Charging Pad.

Such cradle would be useful . . . when I misplace a dongle for SlimPort (over micro USB).

Multimedia pod (Hands-on: BlackBerry Z10 Multimedia Dock | N4BB) has never been released . . . although, genuine or fake, it was listed on ebay and elsewhere from time to time.

Ha i still have the 9700 and 9900 cradles from my bolds on my desk. The phones are tossed in drawers somewhere??? But the 9900 cradle is a beautiful minimally designed piece - almost sculpture. I wish they kept the charging points or would bring them back. I always bought a few with each phone, one for home and one for the office no matter what crazy price BBRY was charging for them. Maybe that's where all their profits went.

Those external charging contacts were sheer genius. And I loved the minimalist design of those cradles. But best of all was the convenience of simply snatching up your fully charged BlackBerry as you leave the room. I had cradles next to my bed so my BlackBerry was always visible, one on my desk in my office, and one on an end table next to the TV. I only wish that those charging contacts could also handle data transfers like a USB cable. But now, with WiFi access for syncing and with the reliance on cloud-based databases perhaps the need for wired sync is all but irrelevant.

You might indeed be able to use that one from Amazon. I much prefer the cradle/external charging contacts type arrangement, but with the Amazon one you at least get an upright device for good viewing angles while charging.

At first I thought the bottom of that cradle was form-fitted to the Samsung phone, but upon closer inspection it appears the Passport would be able to stick out on both sides but still fit.
