Geesh, PP users really have lower expectations...

Nonsense! This is a phone camera and the Passport takes pictures as good or better than other high end phone cameras.
My company has every current high end phone and I have thoroughly used all of them before I will allow them on our BES.
There have been several well done photo comparison threads that clearly demonstrate that the Passport camera can take pictures comparable or better than other phone cameras.

Focus takes too long. It's a fact. I don't think anyone is arguing the phone doesn't take good photos, only that you need a gun pointed to someone's head to entice the subject to sit still until the camera focuses. Good news on the OS update.

I have to say that the camera seems to be a bit improved in the later 10.3.1 builds. It was absolute trash when I first got the Passport. Now it's pretty decent (for a phone):

Low light pictures are really tricky. Of course, it's a combinaison of good hardware and a good photograph. But if the photograph isn't good, then you need good software to adjust the camera properly.

Using HDR at night where there are lit areas (like xmas decorations) would certainly help, but then you can't have shacky hands!

Or you can have the camera focus on the brightest part of the scene, then use filters to adjust everything.

    Or just use night mode.

Not oversaturated, but the white balance is way off in magenta-land. 30 seconds in photoshop can fix that:

To me the Passport camera isn't the best. But the real question is, did you buy the device for its camera?

I remember the 9000, brilliant device, not the best camera. But we loved the device regardless...

People should REALLY wake up for life! How can you compare the Passport pictures with the likes of iPhone 6, Samsung Note or Sony Z3!? Even Steve Wonder can tell that the PP camera sucks compared to pretty much all flagship mobile phones.

I would venture that the passport camera is better than all of those...it certainly has 5 megapixels on the iphone six.

well the autofocus is painfully slow in that version...I took a gamble on a blitz (non-destructive) upgrade to 1154 and haven't looked back!

I don't understand why people complain about the Passport camera. With a little bit of knowledge on how cameras work, you can take great pictures in most lighting situations. Use the appropriate mode for each situation. Here is a night time shot of a well decorated house with a lot of lights taken with my Passport camera.

Give it some time. The z10 camera used to be pretty terrible but it's really good now. Same thing goes for the passport, 10.3.1 is right around the corner. Hopefully it helps the speed and focus of the camera

I hope it's a different number than the current latest leak. It has made my Z30 camera worse than it use to be.
