Don't know if this is a hardware issue or software but it driving me nuts. I'm kind a leaning towards software. I don't think I was have this issue before the update, but I could be wrong. The camera will not focus either with stills or video. I travel a lot for my job and one of the selling points for the Passport was the camera and it makes a rather loud rather distracting cracking noise. My Z10 took amazing pic. But I need a little more capacity so I switch to the Passport. I have attached a screen shot of what OS I'm running as well as a still .Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sometimes mine even stops focusing and thing is just blurry. Camera is nice enough, if the focus feature works better like iPhones or Lumias.

Are you sure you removed the plastic covering the camera?

Your software is definitely older, and that is probably a contributing factor.

Have you not gotten OS10.3.1.2576 in your country yet?

I would second a software issue. With the version that I run, the Passport is just shooting awesome photos and autofocus is working nicely and fast.

    Example shot:

Thank you all so much for the info. I think too its software related. I'm in the US and my carrier is AT&T according to them I'm at the latest. I love my Passport and like most technology It has a few hiccups. I travel a lot for work in CONUS and out. The less separate electronic I have to take with me means less weight and more room for shoes in my carry on. LOL The passport has done that in spades. From E-reader to audio to email and helps with my presentation too. I have managed to pair it down to Passport and a thin laptop. Now just get the camera working well and I will be a happy girl. Thanks again Cheers

Are you on the at&t version of the Passport? Or using the unlocked one from Shop BlackBerry or Amazon on at&t?

    Running on 10.3.1.1779

Focus has improved substantially since previous version, however I do think it needs more work if you would compare it to iPhone's capacity.

If you're taking photos of very fast moving objects(which your pictures seem to be taken from within the train) your camera probably won't be able to focus at all.

Looks like it cannot get the focus from taking a picture from a moving objects? If that's the case, then it is a common problem to many and not exclusive to BB. What you should do is to learn a panning technique. Center your subject while its still in front of you and touch the screen for focus, then pan the subject slowly and snap it. You should get a relatively sharper image with 'moving' background. It takes a bit of practice.

BTW don't forget to upgrade your software for a slightly faster focus.

Another tip for faster focus is to disable Face Detection.

My blackberry passport rear camera doesn't focus. I have been reading the forums looking for a solution, ran tests but still my rear camera pictures are blurry. BTW the front camera work file, clear every time This sounds silly but what I just figured out is if I turn the camera sideways (like landscape) the camera then focuses beautifully! I am running OS 10.3.1.1779.

Hope this helps someone else too!

Lawguyman learned a trick today that fixes the focus issue. On any device.

Hold down the on-screen shutter button until you're happy with the focus, then release it to take a great picture.
