Thanks for all the replies! Of course the plastic is removed ( ) and the lens is clean. And as i already said all the pictures were taken with the correct auto-focus and the trick with the button didn't work.

I will reinstall BB10 and will try to fix this via settings. I have no warranty but i can return the phone till the end of next week.

No need to reinstall you should just update to 10.3.2.. I've heard the camera is best on that version.

In the meantime i had a chat with the seller and this would be considered as a defect in case the update wont fix the problem.

Official 10.3.2 may be available. Less hassle than autoloaders :-)

I used Sachesi and the Blitz Non-destuctive Update for all devices.
The Quality is better now. Still not "good", but i think i can live with that. The next time i see a Passport in a store i will compare the picture quality and think about returning the phone.

It was kinda difficult to find another Passport in Germany, since the one of the biggest electronic stores doesn't sell BB at all and the other one has some of them only in very large stores...
But i could find another Passport in Cologne and could compare them and...... Especially my Camera has a defect!

I will return it tomorrow but the "problem" is that i bought it over Amazon Warehouse Deals for 330� and since i had mine the prices increased by 90�... I think i will lie in wait for the prices to decrease and then buy another one. I really like that device.

Dirty elns and clean lens is my wife problem. When see send me a bad picture she sometimes send me a new job one that is sharp and much better.

Nope, there is no way to get a substitute device or a free repair because the device is considered as "used" and "unique item". There is only the possibility to return the device for the money paid because it wasn't of proper functionality the day it was bought.
BUT the money i paid is less than another device would cost. By the way: 4€ decrease since yesterday^^

If you want to take good pics with the Passport, you have to understand how to use it properly. The following is a crop of a pic that I took over the weekend. Note it may be compressed when I upload it (quality is degraded) but the important thing to note is that it captures water blobs in motion and in focus.



People say the problem is focus speed but that is not true. Focus speed is okay. The problem is that the camera does not HOLD focus. It refocuses when there is the slightest amount of movement. Pictures get snapped while focus is underway and that leads to blurry pics.

The solution is to hold the shutter button until the image is in focus as indicated by the focus box turning green. Then, release the button to snap the pic.

The camera really should be easier to use. Chen claims on Twitter that an update is being prepared. But, once you know how to get the most out of the camera, it is easy to take good pics.

For those having focus problems, have you tried camera++ and manual focus? If this also doesn't work, then your camera is broken. The focus on the PP isn't bad, just slow. If it doesn�t focus, then there is a problem. Here is a low light photo in a museum - animatronic dinosaurs. The one on the left was moving at the time, hence slight motion blur. The one on the right was still, and in perfect focus. This was quite dark, you can see the uplights easily.

Yeah the PP is not the best, I carry my Sony NEX camera and use otg to transfer pics.. a bit of trouble but I take pictures to save not to be deleting them or storing them if they are no use to me..
