Passport or BlackBerry in general just not enough
- After 4 months of usage I really like the passport design and built quality but it's just not enough when it comes to use ability. Apps are not stable. Contact list search is broken. Sometimes the phones heats up. Again I like the phone built but it falls short when it comes to apps. I hate it when it just freezes and nothing happens. I am going to wait for the 10.3.2 update if it doesn't functions then I might have to just keep the passport strictly for business emails and what not. And get a personal phone. BlackBerry please fix this freeze and contacts search and other known bugs.05-30-15 07:45 PMLike 0
- Then OP you need to get your phone fixed, friend. If you are having all these issues, take it up with BlackBerry. Warranty service is part of the deal when you bought the phone...take advantage of it. You say that Passport or BlackBerry in general is just not enough. I would have to disagree with you and so would many others on here. I understand your opinion is based your experiences.
So change the experience. Get the phone repaired or replaced. Once you have functional product in your hand, you'll have a different opinion. I understand your frustrations, but the ball is in your court to take action on your warranty options.

Did you think BlackBerry had tons of apps or something before you got the Passport though? It's kind of well known that BlackBerry isn't really the phone to have if you rely on/like/love/need/want lots of apps...

It's a great phone and data device for communicating with texts and messaging apps and with email.
Robust and reliable.
I can't tell you how many times I have had to not worry about the battery. Friends get in the car and need to recharge all the time.

As people have said in the comments above, if it's freezing it's not working as its supposed to.

My daily drivers have been androids even though my back ground is apple. And was using a note 4 and I gave it up for a BlackBerry Passport. Do some tweaks with the new builds leaked. Mine is so stable and have none of the issues mentioned by u. And apps are steady even the android apps.
Note 4 is a great phone specially the stylus features. That's the only thing I'm missing but I have the hub and BlackBerry mails + this awesome keyboard to compensate to that. So I'm not regretting or missing anything. Update it with a leaked built or get ur warranty claimed. It's one of the best devices out there.

- I did experienced exactly like you, and thought the same way as you. I just wrote on other thread regarding similar issue:
"I hate to say this. Reload your os and update to the latest os, build your phone from 0 is preferable than back up. You should solve most of the problem stated. If you read enough thread and you will find that most people will suggest to reload os as solution to most problems. Sad to say that it is true. I experience it first hand. It solve most of the bug i experience except the double type. Spare about an hour on Sunday to reload your os. You will love your passport. Unless you really got a bad one"
As for the apps, you are right. Some android apps are a bit laggy. Fortunate for me, most of the apps I use work fine for me.

Again I just can't give up on this device because I do like the device but when it comes to some productivity like contacts not syncing properly and contacts disappear is a big question mark. Freezing is another thing so yes maybe it's a reload of the OS is required based on lots of the comments that I read here and doing some interesting search.05-30-15 11:34 PMLike 0

I have LOTS of apps and most I say I can't live w/o. LoL. Some from BBW most are android that I have downloaded from Amazon & Snap.
Android apps w/ annoying ads I have successfully removed them using Luccky Patcher.
Only issue I have is the double typing. Spell checker takes ccare of the majority b d & s but not so much w/ the c.
Anyway keep at it and you'll find your own fixes and then you'll be happy. The good thing about BlackBerry is mmost everything that goes wrong can be fixed by the user.05-31-15 07:17 AMLike 0 - I am on 10.3.1 and I don't want to go for a Beta version because I heavily rely on my device. My main issues are the freeze, contact search. I will do a reload and I will use my warranty to get it fixed. Another point to add though from my point of view neither Android or IOS worth the switch because each have their own problems.05-31-15 08:21 AMLike 0

When you restore from your backup, make sure you put the phone in airplane mode so there is no interference from network traffic.

One issue though. My BBM contacts pictures are not displaying anymore and I am not sure why.06-03-15 09:45 AMLike 0 -
as for BBM contact, I have never experience it. try a restart or hard reset by pressing the power button for 10 sec. let the BBM load all the pictures and groups. it may take a while.
Posted via the CrackBerry App for Android06-03-15 10:23 AMLike 0 - That didn't solve my problem. The only pics displayed are the ones that just got updated by the contact.06-03-15 10:59 AMLike 0

Sometimes it takes time for BBM to be fully provisioned. I notice it hasn't been too long since you re-installed the software. Give BBM some time to fully restore your individual and group content.

Is there a way to wipe just the BBM data?06-03-15 03:32 PMLike 0 -
Unfortunately you can't only wipe BBM. I don't even think you can uninstall and then reinstall it neither.
