I have 10.3 and battery issue is fine. Brightness levels on 10.3 are in my opinion set higher as default for the passport. 10.3.1 will be optimized for other devices. I turned my brightness to 10% or so.and that was equivalent to about 30% on 10.2. Life no is on par with old OS.

Instead of going through a reload, try what works for me:
Remove all email accounts and facebook, reset and then re-add all your accounts and wait for a few hours depending on how much emails you syncing

Because it's a PIM problem, you have to find the culprit.
Delete facebook, twitter and all social media.
Delete emails.
Delete whatsapp/wechat and all instant messaging.
And them 1 by 1 giving each time to settle properly.
Pay attention to the device monitor on "CPU" and see if PIM stays low after allowing each entry to settle.
This I have found is the sure fire way to find out which program is making PIM spike thus eating up battery and heating up the device.

I will observe again today.. I feel my phone is a lot cooler now. Wiped the phone and instead of syncing my contacts via cloud, I saved it as a file. Will update. I think something kept on trying to sync yesterday constantly.. now is a lot cooler.

My passport has been used all yesterday when I got it and I fully charged it last night. Woke up just now and checked in the battery stats screen and I'm getting this:

Doesn't seem like much time remaining? I'll take the advice of the posters in here regarding the contacts and removing certain things and adding again manually etc. But my phone does get very hot very quickly I've noticed. Gonna keep an eye on it and see what happens.

Turn airplane mode for 2 minutes. Then turn it on again. It usually resolves the battery drain issue caused by hyperactive PIM service.

Removed an added contacts via an app instead of syncing via link. Now I get this. Take note it started with 11 hours and as it went by it updated itself and now its 1day very happy :)

Guys I need HELP!!! My battery percentage seems to come down but so does my hours left quite drastically, however like now I'm on 69% and its showing 21 hours then it might go to 68 and show 6/7 hours then back up again... Is the phone faulty? Really concerned
That's actually pretty good, not that bad! Display is almost always going to be your biggest drain since it consumes so much power!

How many calendar items do you have on your passport?

No, it is because in the time your phone dropped the 1% you were likely using the device. Thus the phone recalculates the remaining time based on if you were constantly performing that task.
So if you played a game for half an hour say, then checked time left immediately, it will be considerably lower than before playing the game and the phone being idle, as the phone thinks briefly that you are going to play the game all the time. Then, when you stop playing the game (or using any app in the foreground), the time remaining will increase again.
That's my understanding anyway.
