What they're having a hard time with is that it's that much more than the price Chen quoted.

They're not realizing that the carriers really don't WANT you buying off-contract. Telus is charging above SRP.

    You can order it now!

Haven't gone through with an order, but it takes you to the final order screen.

    $858.80 taxes in!!!

    Not yet for me!

No, they are doing it because EVERYONE and their mother charges more for everything in Canada, and they get away with it by citing "tariffs and other costs"... it's BS.

In any case, it's better than if the SRP had been $700 in the US because otherwise we might see an $800 phone here.

Probably had to resized it to fit the page because it's just to square. $599 in the US but $750 here in Canada, seriously?

Q: How do you make sure that your customers are not happy about your $750 flagship smartphone?

A: Tell them it will be $599 the day before.

That's Canada for you. Where the CRTC's interference actually resulted in less choice for consumers.

Betting BlackBerry's SRP is $649. No law says Telus has to match that.

Just wait 3 weeks or so that price will drop. All new phones always start out with a ridiculous price tag even on contract, and then after the carrier has some smartphone blow out sale and drops the price.

    Look! It's Zedzilla10! ?

Maybe it is a Telus issue because the Passport doesn't look square to me.

I think the pricing is wrong... but hey we will find out in 9 hours.

My guess is Chen quoted the price that BlackBerry will be selling the device directly. In Canada it will be $649 directly from BlackBerry and then the carriers always increase the price too so $750 isn't shocking, but it is disappointing when we first heard it was going to be $599 US.

Nah, just probably how the CSS is setup, not designed for phones shaped like the passport, I am sure they will change it in the future.

Yes, they should have "padded" the graphic with some whitespace.

Man, I really hope BlackBerry sells the phone from their website. With carriers hiking up prices and messing up with photos, it can mess up their launch.

The picture of the phone is absolutely ridiculous; as if they're intentionally trying to make it look like your average smartphone. If I was BlackBerry I would be all over this.
