So many people are asking the Passport 2 not to be a Passport anymore.
BlackBerry has nailed it with this form factor and will most likely stick to it. I am expecting incremental refreshed product. A good design isn't changed every year, especially when you get customers back and you won hardware design.
If you want something else then you don't want a Passport.
What I'd like to see in the next Passport... exact same footprint (otherwise the name is stupid), bump up the camera & specs & screen, glass weave back, find a way to fit the traditional keyboard in there, and mechanical keys.

Yes it is but now Phablets do have the specs we used to see on some pc few years ago and even more than that: quadcore, 3GB of RAM...
We are speaking about the new mobility era, and it seems like Thorsten Heins nailed it when he defined tablets like a transitional device that would lead to phablets sporting pc specs.
Next step is 2-3 days of battery life with heavy use, to keep Blackberry's name associated to innovation, greatest keyboard, work powerhouse device with awesome battery life.

Like as is with perhaps a Premium leather back and improvements to camera...

I'm not sure they'll ever have a dual sim. They just acquired a new company that I can't remember the name of to run 2 phone numbers on one SIM.

A lot of people are falling prey to the numbers game. 'wow, you're running a blackberry with only a quad core? Check out my android, dual octocore, 16 cores!' these are just numbers and we're no where near using that much processing power on our phones. 4K display for what? Cool? Yes. Useful? Eh no. Just eats up more battery. It's a spec race with android. I couldn't care less about it. I wish they'd work just as hard on their OS.

Not necessary waterproof, but at least some degree of rainproof.
just add 5-10 milimeters under the keyboard for a better balance IMHO.
I don't think it's the camera that's the problem, I thinks it's some other hardware or software issue. Sure wish the passport took better pictures. The screen I think is terrific. Asking for a better screen, now we're just being picky. What do you mean a glass weave back? Shouldn't the last thing they do is make it like the back of an iphone4? It's very delicate. These phones are supposed to be pretty rugged. I do miss the normal Alt key though,, but I'm definitely getting used to the keyboard on the passport.
I think this is a great question. I think $499 is a good price. I wouldn't have been so reluctant to buy my passport. Yes I bought it for $599, but I almost forgot about buying it altogether.

Just make sure all Android apps run. If you've already gone down that path, might as well do it right.
glass weave is the back of q10 / z30
If they could squeeze just a little more chin below the KB I think it would be better as well. Put the BB logo on that chin and move the screen almost all the way up to the earpiece. I cut a PP out of cardboard with a lifesize cutout of the front of the device and I found it uncomfortable to hit the bottom corner keys. I bet they could get a 4 row keyboard onto the device as well. Put the spacebar as a separate row and put some other frequent keys down there. Also allows for the typical layout of the letter keys instead of being flush to the sides. Would permit hitting the Z and M keys without scrunching up the thumbs so much.
There is no way you are cramming 600mAh more battery into the PP2. Not unless there is a revolution in batteries in the next 6 months. I would just be happy with a removeable battery at the same capacity. The next gen processor like the note 4 has and the one after that will have higher performance and less power consumption. The phone is already a pretty solid 2 day device with heavy usage. Same numbers chasing as the aforementioned CPU and display spec chasing. Putting in a bigger battery just to have a bigger number is not the importance. Making the OS better and the CPU/Ram more efficient will increase lifespan of the device. Look at the iphone 6+. It gets more battery life as an android Note 4 of the same dimensions. The 6+ has like a 1800mAh battery compared to the Note 4s 3220mAh battery. So just like all other things, it's not the specs that matter it's the performance. So why do you need a 4000mAh battery besides the bigger numbers?
Excuse the crap pshop was in a rush.
Or a Passport with a slide capability like the defunct Torch series.
I'm mostly happy with it overall as is today, but if they were to release a second one in a year or two's time, I'd like to see:
proper 4 row keyboard - its just an unnecessary inconvenience as is
proper trackpad and toolbelt as with the classic - keyboard trackpad is nowhere near as good as the old Bold 9900 was for this
removable battery - sealed unit sucks completely as this phone is designed to become tomorrows paperweight
and I suppose by that time it would need faster cpu and graphics to be current.
Not massive changes really though, just a blend of this and the classic would suit me, and speeded up to suit the current time period it would be released in
Same form factor with a full-touch front panel and a slider horizontal QWERTY, similar to the look of the Dell Venue Pro design.
I keep seeing the calls for swappable battery. This notion should be null and void when the device lasts longer than 24hrs.
BlackBerry - Accept no substitute. Period!
I think you're right. I don't think the passport gets that good of battery life relative to the size of its battery. A smartphone with similar specs that can last as long as the passport but with a smaller battery? That's impressive. A large battery, 4000mah, makes up for poor battery optimization.
Posted via unlocked PASSPORT
Well I wanted a 4000+ mAh battery + optimisation to be sure to propose a 2 days of heavy use autonomy.
If they can make it without a bigger battery even better...

How about a built in stylus ala GNote
Iphones aren't running 6 apps at a time in the background as frames so can get away with smaller batteries.
If BB10 had the same fake multitasking where it pauses a save state and closes the app then it's battery life would be even better.
Posted in CB10 from my amazing Passport
No love passport , played with this toy 2 weeks, heavy, inconvenient, price suitable should be 300-350 usd.
Posted via CB10
I'd be all overt that!!! Fingers crossed.

What do your apps do in the background that could not be done, with a nearly instant refresh, when the app is brought back to the foreground? Further more what 6 apps are you using at the same time and need to have them all running in parallel with no time to wait for a refresh?
passport 2 to be smaller for one handed use you heard it here first
