If they did sell a million that would be great. Not sure if the number is accurate, they did announce that 200,000 sold in the first week. I got mine and am loving it.

200K was in the first day, not the first week.

I highly doubt they sold one million. Simply no way they can pump passport out that fast. If they did, then there wouldn't be so many backorders

Posted via CB10 from BlackBerry Passport
You never know. 1 million sold, 2000 shipped, 998,000 on backorder with a production capacity of 50/day.

I would care more about how many have been shipped rather than units sold because that would not include possible cancellations.

And above of units sold and shipped I like to know how BB will resolve all the backorders.

Delusional. It just seems like a big deal on this forum with all the backorders.

If this was a MAJOR story all other press outlets would be all over it.
I dunno, but I'm pretty positive that press outlets don't run stories based on rumors and speculations made on a former or by a Telus store employee. I'm also pretty sure that when John Chen officially announced 200,000 sold I saw that reported on other press outlets.

If someone told me Telus (one carrier alone) sold 1 million iphones (any iteration) I wouldn't believe it. I'm much more doubtful of the Passport although it could sell a million over a number of months from a number of carriers. There are approximately 34-35 million people in Canada. Number seems to high relative to the potential mobile owning population.

I hope the passport is doing well. I do not, however, believe anything that is posted on this thread....that includes anything I say as well.

I think this is very believable when you consider how many different markets it is being launched in.

Well, I don't believe sale associate from Telus knows. The only company that have the right answer is BlackBerry itself. I'm sure they sold at least half million worldwide.
Are u factoring in Telus and blackberry had an agreement to the launch and exclusive supply of passports might explain why Telus was the only one to have passports out all the carriers.

I'll bet my left ear that the return rate on the passport is no where near the return rate that they had when the z10 and q10 launched. This thing is a keeper.

1 million is believable. I will predict that Blackberry will sell 1.5 to 2 millions Passports this quarter. That is my low range.
Any one else care to predict.

200,000 sold in the first 10 hours, and only from shopblackberry, Amazon and Telus. Now adding releases all around the world, and additional Canadian and international carriers selling, I can't see why it wouldn't be around 1 million. Obviously, this is all speculation, but I don't see it being completely out of the question. Can't wait to hear official numbers from Blackberry. However, we may not hear them until the next quarterly update, unfortunately.

That's pretty conservative, has to be at least a bakers dozen.

    Curve 8300 --> BlackBerry 9300 --> Bold 9900 --> Z10 --> Z30(x3) --> Q10 --> Passport

As of today, I could envision a number around 1 million. Remember, you have to stuff the channels, in multiple countries, first. So a sell in rate of 1 million in not unrealistic. Given that a passport is rarer than a Scottish Unicorn, I suspect that the sell through rate will be pretty close to that number. Blackberry has a winner on its hands and people know it.

I love these people who believe Apple can sell ten million phones in one weekend and don't think BlackBerry can sell two million phones in this quarter.

    i posted this somewhere else.

when John Chen said he had already sold 200k phones at launch that did not mean to end users. that meant to distributors; carriers, shopblackberry, amazon. THOSE are the phones that sold out online and in stores the first week. They were already allocated to various markets. maybe, MAYBE they have 50k on backorder from the unanticipated extra demand. maybe a second run sold out and that adds up to what? maybe another 200k. They might crack 1million in the quarter if demand is steady. i'll be ecstatic if they do, but 600k would be a lot in my mind.

I'm pretty sure he meant only through Amazon and ShopBB, which were sold out after 6 hours. So, yes, direct sales to the consumer.

No credence to the Telus agent's claim, because she has no more access to sales figures than we do. Made up number.

A million is my own "best-case" estimate for the whole quarter. Most likely half that, but even that would be enough to actually bring BlackBerry to profitability for the quarter and that would be spectacular.
