That's the big one. You won't know until you try to put your own in on initial setup. In theory, you could ask seller to send you a pic of current date and phone with "enter BlackBerry ID" step or some such, but it's still not perfect.

If they do a security wipe it will not be locked to a bbid.

I assume you are in Canada, if so it makes more sense to buy new direct from blackberry. Not a huge price difference and you get 30 days money back guarantee.

Definitely not true in terms of Protect. It will still be associated to their BlackBerry Protect account until they remove the device.

Well, if you think about 599 CAD + HST = 677 on Shopblackberry.ca there is an opportunity to save some dosh when used and NIB PP's are selling in the 300 - 400 range on vijayjay (I mean kijiji)

Absolutely true. I just sold my 9983 and had to go back and meet the buyer because I didnt turn protect off. The phone was useless until I signed in and turned it off, despite doing a wipe, and deleting the device from my account. Must be turned off before you buy it!

Hmm no... they need to disable BlackBerry Protect and then wipe it before shipping...

Jeeez. Good thing you told me! I'm selling my classic as I just got the passport and I didn't know I had to turn off BlackBerry Protect before wiping.
