I am not sure that I would really like to express how I feel about Optus currently I have been with them for countless years and bought all my Black berry's through them starting with the 8100. Their attitude towards blackberry currently is contemptuous I cannot see, touch or even talk to anyone at Optus about the Passport so be dammed I will keep my beautiful Z10 which I got through them and sit back and see if they might come to their senses!!!!!!

Found this "fantastic " shopping guide for smartphones on :
    http://mobile.news.com.au/technology...-1227145197084

They mention the Passport and the Samsung Edge, but I'm confused. Here's the actual text:

    These were different

We saw a few different takes on smartphones this year. BlackBerry tried a square design with its Passport, which while great for reading, wasn?t great for much else. Samsung released the Note Edge with a curved screen down one side. It?s cool as a bedside clock and using the special features Samsung has built for it, but we doubt many third-party apps will be jumping on the bandwagon.

Underneath the Passport image (that's cropped so you can't see the keyboard) the text goes : There's a lack of key features. But news.com.au lacks a good review and forgets that the key feature is the physical keyboard!

Anyone using a passport in Au, did you have to alter any settings at all, or was it just plug(in the sim) and play?

Plug and play. No issues with settings at all. My only advice would be to set up your accounts from scratch as I restored from my Z30 backup and now I get update account password notifications quite frequently.

Same here. Plugged in the SIM, restored contacts/messages etc via the ContactsImEx app, set up email, logged in using my current BBM username/password. Everything worked. I didn't load a backup - the ContactsImEx app works well, and saves your messages/contacts etc. No need to overcomplicate things

All your apps are available in "My Apps" in BBW, and Amazon. You can just reinstall them.

Thanks. Sim in and she is a beauty.
I decided to fresh install completely as I kept getting that notification on my Q10.

I can attach a link but only from my orders list, and the link gives full access to my account. Sorry but can't find any other way around it. Tried every way possible, even after logging out. Give them a ring, ph (02) 8706 4055. Item SKU is TBDF-XX92649.

    Nobody wants my money!!

I've been trying to order from topbuy.com.au but my VISA card is not issued in Australia so it was cancelled.

Optus just told me they don't have blackberry and after calling and chatting with them I gave up.

No listings on ebay Australia either.

My alternatives is to use nearly 800$ or more and I need to wait 5-7 days from sites I have no experience with.

    Any ideas guys?

My advice is to NOT call Optus, but to go in-store. If they still give you the 'we don't sell BlackBerry' line, tell them that many have bought the Passport from Optus recently and that they should look under their Newly Devices tab on their order system. That is if they don't have one out the back. They will want you to purchase sight unseen, but this device is worth taking that risk.

Topbuy also accept PayPal from memory, if that is any good for you.

Totally right. This is exactly what I did back in October.

My friend went to Optus today in Melboure and they ordered one in. Said it should be less than a week.

    9000 -> 9700 -> 9800 -> Playbook -> 9900 -> Z10 -> Q10 -> Passport

I walked into 2 Optus stores here in Perth and managed to find one with stock, and walked out with a new Passport. Rather impressed so far, although was a bit surprised when I first saw it (no dummy / demo stock, never seen one IRL) but it seems great. Best advise I can offer is to drop into a few stores. Don't call, I'm still waiting for a callback that was promised by COB last Wednesday!

I don't want to spend my money at Optus at all.
The price is too high and got so annoyed!
I would go to a store if I wanted to use 800$.

Topbuy.com.au had really good customer service but I didn't want to wait to transfer between account to pay with PayPal.

Finally I was in luck, I managed to find a used one for 550$, bought 31st of December so I'm more than happy.
