Anyone know any stores in SA that'll sell it at the $816 price?

I'd be curious as well. The press release I read said that there'll be a variety of plans over 24 months as well. That'll determine how I purchase one.

    $60 a month plus $13 or $80 a month plus $2.

There's probably something +- but those 2 are the only sensible ones.

    I took the $80 plan.

Not anywhere. If Telstra get the Passport in before the end of the year, you can pay a bit on top of your plan so that you can upgrade within a year. I think it would balance out to being the same as breaking your contract anyway.

I don't think so - they want to bind the customer for longer
Afaik, when I got my Q10 there was also no 1year plan available. So I have still til June next year to get my hands on a Classic II (Classic + revamped specs) ... dreaming

In hand...swapping device info over so I can clean sweep my Q10 for my wife. It's beautiful. One of the reason I was so adamant that Australian carriers stock the device is because of the power adapter. If you need to find an adapter for the plug, you're putting your device at risk.

Yeah, you win! I did speak to the Optus store at Narellan today, they said I could order one in for me but I stumbled.....still not confident in their network coverage, plus I want to see/play with a Passport before signing up to a two year deal. If it was Vodafone, I wouldn't have hesitated.

I'm kinda hanging out for the Z30 replacement next year, but the passport is sweet and totally different, want one of those too. I'm torn at the moment so I won't rush into anything yet.

In Narellan? Mate, I have 4G in Bowral. I'm sure you'll be fine. Especially with that Paratek Antenna.

Got mine finally from Amazon. Temporarily put an optus 4G sim in (as I couldn't successfully cut my sim). Works a treat. Great signal strength. At $73/$82 per month, it still might pay to buy it outright. $599US is about $650 plus or minus a bit. I use TPG (normally) at $17/mnth (1G + $500 calls/text) - break even is:

    10 months at $82/month
    12 months at $73/month

So on a 2 year contract, you save $910 (at $82) or $694 (at $73)

I gotta say, the Paratek antenna is impressive. I have a customer at a shopping centre in Blacktown and the loading dock is two levels underground. My Z10 had no service whatsoever down there and I had to walk up the ramp to the next level just to make a call. The Z30 I have now is awesome, I get 4G all the time with no loss of reception. Sure does make a difference.
So now you have given me one less excuse, still really want to make sure it is what I want though.

    Thanks for the info Vader
I use mine for my business and I pay about $80/month for unlimited calls/text and 6gb data with Vodafone (sim only month to month) and may drop it down to the $60 plan with 4gb as I am only using about 3gb per month. With a new phone on contract, the $60 sim only plan becomes an $80 plan with phone. Basically they are charging $20/ month for the phone over two years so it probably works out cheaper to get it on contract for me.

Melbourne for me. Picked up this beauty this afternoon. Haven't added the new SIM yet because I don't want to use this as my phone until I have a screen protector and case.

I'll keep using the Z10 for work until the case arrives.

    And yes, you win Chap...
