Yes Sim is inserted
This happen to all my activation sims
Sim shows network name in notification Panel but under network settings it says SOS.

could be a problem with the sim card reader, the golden coloured pins may be damaged !

No buddy. It's a common glitch. Check the forums. It's all over the place... pisses me off at times. Not hardware issue at all.

Your passport got the "emergency calls only disease". My condolences. It's happened to one of my Passports as well. There is no known cause or cure. Most suspect it is hardware related as software updates and resets have not fixed it.

I took the device to the Blackberry Service center and he said this is an ongoing issue with the Passports, Blackberry is well known about the issue. However they are not providing a fix for this.

This was told to me by the Service Center.

I had the same issue. However, as I drove close to one of the towers, (100 metres) my passport connected to 4g network. It was a Rogers Locked phone with a Chatr Sim card. But I lose all connection as I drive away. So I'm lost, BBhelp and Chatr say to get a new Sim, or unlock phone. Still wondering why I only connect to 1 frequency for both voice and data.
