Looks to narrow to hold it securely, risky because it might mean the usb/slimport gets damaged over time. Furthermore it offers no additional options over a regular dock.
Just plugged my slimport HDMI adapter into the sync pod then connected to TV, docked my passport and low and behold it displays on TV and I can plug my charger into the slimport adapter and charge at the same time.
Seriously that didn't even come to mind. I can see how a Slimport Adapter + Dock setup might look nice.

I'm still waiting for "special" accessories like that though. What about an oem Slimport adapter built into the dock, or a Miracast dongle (like the BlackBerry Music Gateway but for Video). Or a nice and compact USB to Go accessory or Touch Screen Pen.

Don't know why BlackBerry didn't just place a HDMI port in the unit like they did with the Z10 dock.

So, I plugged my Passport into the OEM Dock at 6:57pm with 79 percent left in the battery.
at 7:20pm I am at 92 percent. FAST!

So below is a photo at the request I placed a pad of note pad so that you could see how much space there is. But the bottom is free space. Don't how secure this is. Might be too wobbly side by side for the micro usb connector. (why break it so soon!)
So, the thickness of the post-it note was 7mm, or 1/4 of an inch.

JamieWilson...the HDMI slimport is newer than the Z10 connector. that's why they put is on the newer phone.

Just got two of these for home and office. Highly recommended to finally have an OEM dock again after the drought of using the Q10.

Just clued in after reading this threat more thoroughly that it is charging at 1.8. That is a nice touch indeed compared to charging from a computer via USB. Not sure what the OEM wall charger is - I can't read the small print on it, lol.

It's 1300mA, so the dock is still a pretty good improvement but the wall charger is already quite fast.

    Does USB OTG work too?

My dream dock has 3 USB ports and a HDMI port.

If the phone already has the hardware enabled as it does,
I don't see why it should be a dream to add a few more ports to a dock to increase its functionality greatly.

Is this a micro-usb and would then work with a Z30?

Yes, but will it sit well in the dock?
Only trying it will we know for sure.

Blackberry will not make something like that but will leave it up to third party vendors.
I hazard to guess that the Slimport/HDMI slot is for those moments that you need to do a presentation in a hotel/office.
As for a regular dock at home to watch a movie or something you videoed like a holiday trip, and that is possibly a set up that you could have at home.

Back to basics, now that we have the Dock, we need a software tweak to give us a "charging" profile that brings up the Clock when the Passport is on charge on the Dock.

I realise that you can enable Bedside Mode to have the clock permanently displayed, but for daytime use you still want the tones and notifications to work. Bedside Mode can be customised to do this but then of course you lose the ability to have it perform its intended function at night time.

I thought there was something missing when I put the Passport on the dock?

(snide remark...) Maybe the AT&T model will have that!?!

I had my Z10 in it and it worked fine. A little weird since it was sitting there in landscape vs. The portrait on the Passport.

I don't see the point in official docks that are open-ended, meaning they don't guide the phone into the exact place.
Just another thing that can fail over time, especially considering how flimsy micro-usb is compared to other types of connectors.

Bit of a workaround and not sure if there's a simpler way but it now functions just like my Z10 dock.
