Local Nigerian jet setter walks in to a phone repair shop. Shows the technician and asks, can you please install Whatsapp for me on this phone? Technician replies politely, "I don't know how BlackBerry's works!" he announces proudly. I listen attentively while browsing another section of the repair shop and casually ask the Nigerian, "Ey, what is that?". He replies, "My useless old Blackberry! I can't even Whatsapp!!!". I look at the phone and am so mesmerized by what I seen as I've never seen a BlackBerry Passport before. I then suddenly, without even thinking, "So give it to me!", I say jokingly. Nigerian looks at me, and says, "Take it... you can have it". Four days later, after siting through three days of security wiping which got stuck, then Autoloading BB10 OS, and I can proudly say I'm having the time of my life. It even had a screen protector and looks new! I've bought Many phones in my life and this one, that I didn't even buy, is the best Damn phone I've ever owned!!! Thank you Nigerian jetsetter

My KEY 2 LE is basically bricked, it won't turn on, will not charge, so sad for a phone i have only had for little over a year. So i have an old Classic i might go back to using but i cannot fathom the idea of going back to that phone, however i am wondering if i should get an old Passport? I know someone who went from a Passport to a Key 2 LE like mine, i could probably get it. Also notice there are some new ones still available.

First post, first BB. Brand new unlocked passport for $220. Have been looking for a few months but wanting one for a lot longer.

Currently trying to figure out the best messaging option for an Asia Pacific expat.

You would be looking at plain old sms as best, then maybe Telegram or WhatsApp. The latter two are, of course, android apps only anymore. WhatsApp is here: https://www.whatsapp.com/android/ and Telegram can be obtained in various places but I like this one: https://f-droid.org/repo/org.telegra...nger_20655.apk

I endorse brookie229 suggestions. They’re pretty much it anymore...

Pretty sure Skype no longer works but I may be corrected. Last time I used it (maybe 2-3 years ago) it chewed my battery up so much that I had to uninstall it.

Recently, I acquired the Passport SE although I own the AT&T Passport already. Well, BB10 is more fun than on my Q5 and Z3 hardware but I really find the PKB not as fluid or intuitive as either of those devices.

Still fun, but that's it and I'm strictly discussing the PKB layout, nothing else.

    There are lists.... https://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-10-apps-f274/

But no all inclusive, being maintained list.... better off looking through some of the list there and even asking.

In the end, if you need apps... Passport isn't something you should consider as a primary device.

Duly noted with thanks... I just have the need to know since I'm trying to catch up anything that I can still be doing with the Passport. Thanks again and cheers ;-)

I have just received a nearly new Passport SE to add to my collection. I charged it fully and tried to connect to Blackberryworld - failed with the network issue. I updated the app, using Sachesi. with the bar I previously downloaded. I was surprised that this was possible, since there was no BBID on the phone. It was wiped before I purchased it. I was under the impression that no side loading was possible without an ID, even using these tools. I guess system apps can be updated. I successfully updated it, but could not install any other bars. BlackberryWorld required a BBID. So, I set up a new BBID and started to download and side load all apps to match what was on my Z30 and Classic. I installed a couple battery apps to check battery health. I found that the battery only has 69 charge cycles on it and was sitting at 89% health. One of the apps will optimize the battery. After optimization, the battery health went up to 92% and later 95% health. I ran BBVE and everything passed. Wow, those speakers are clear and loud. I am a happy camper with a Passport SE that looks new and hardly used. I purchased and installed a new sim and will now need to get an SD for my music and videos. The keyboard feels nice and different from the classic. The buttons are flatter and not as beveled. I will need to trim my thumb nails to get used to this. I will create a thread later showing all apps I have downloaded and tried. Note that some were only to test and compare with others. But, maybe this info will be useful to others.

Sideloading doesn't require a BBID ever.

That's why we are collecting native apps from their developers for when the time comes that we all have to remove our BBIDs from our devices and no longer have access to BlackBerry World.

I have that link and downloaded bars from it. When I tried to sideload with Sechesi, it did not install the files. Thats why I assumed only system/Blackberry files install without an ID. I am hoping you guys can contact the dev for Penzus MMT. I would live to add that app to my phones.

Use DBBT instead. Maybe it will work better with your setup.
