Hi i recently purchased a blackberry passport silver edition but the battery is draining quickly i had it for 2 weeks and its still the same so i decided to factory reset it but its taking soooooo long. Its been 5 days already and right now its stuck at 99% and it says on screen system wipe / erasing memory. Does it really take this long to factory reset a blackberry? I cant wait any longer to use it again..

It takes forever, literally. A known problem. Forget the security wipe. Turn the Passport off by holding down the top button for 20 seconds or so. Go to Link and reload the software. That's what I did. Or use an autoloader on your PC, 10.3.2.2639.

The factory reset actually fixed my battery whereas the security wipe didnt.

Just to confirm, what's a factory reset and what's a security wipe? You mean factory reset the up and down volume reset, and security wipe through the security options at settings?

OK, I received my BlackBerry Passport Silver Edition; very handsome metal case with large bright screen! Got the three free accessories too from Crackberry; they're great!

Took it to my Bell store to get it activated, and the sales people all thought it was the "Porsche" edition!

NOTE: Only Silver Edition accessories will work with the Silver Edition Passport, including cases, charging stand, and even clear screen protectors. The dimensions of the SE Passport are different than the origin Passport!

Not entirely true, the AT&T seidio holster and the AT&T charging dock both work with the silver edition.

Clarification: Be aware that most OEM Blackberry accessories designed for the first original Passport will not work with the new SE edition. That goes for some of the other non-BB accessories.

Question, if you don't mind... you say that the att holster works with the SE, do you have one? Does it work with the flex shell on? If you do have it, can you take it a pic when you have the chance? Thanks!

I had it for 10 days and returned it. My q10 stay in my pocket.
For me portability wins over performance .
Beautiful device but not for me.

$722 CDN including taxes. No overnight shipping cost.
Mine was about $747, but that's because I'm in Quebec (5% GST, 9.5% PST)

I have the SE for a week now and love it. First I get 10% discount and 300 euro trade up from my old Passport. Love the keyboard, looks, foto looks lighter and flash works better. Screen looks brighter and speakers seems more clear. Now I wait for os 10.3.3

I have the seidio clip holster that doesn't require a case, fits like a glove. I can't verify if it fits with a case or not, I'm guessing no.

I'm unclear on this. The original Passport has no FM radio, right? Only the Z30, I thought.
The Q10 has a radio as well...I thought all BB10 devices did.

    Authored on my silver passport.

Bought through clove.co.uk and had it a few days. I'm pondering whether to keep it though.

It is indeed excellent in terms of display, keyboard, responsiveness and build.

However I feel a bit like the moment I upgraded from an original Nexus 7 to an original Nexus 10; the original 7 was spectacularly good compared to the rest of the Android tablet market at the time, and felt like it. The 10 when it came was a disappointment in terms of battery life, feel etc.

In the same way the Q10 hits a sweet spot for me - near perfect for my use - that the Passport just falls short on. This is nothing that the specs can tell you, it's something you'll know - or disagree with - when using it.
Can't agree with this, as transition from Q10 to OG Passport was like moving from standard rocket to a warp-drive propelled one. I took SE just for the looks, as in the terms of the hardware, it's like Classic to Q10 - no difference
