Yes I understand but a leak from BlackBerry is not the same as other platforms, the leaks that come from BlackBerry are actual OS from there own servers.
We just like to be ahead of the curve instead of waiting for the items.
I've been loading leaks for years and have never had a problem, and it's even easier on bb10 as its really hard to actually hard brick your device.

I've used leaks myself back when I on the Z30. I just wonder why BlackBerry hasn't officially released this update if it actually fixes the problems plaguing the Passport? My bet is that there still are unresolved issues.

Yes I agree, but they first have to find out why it's seems different on each device.
Maybe they should start making device specific OS. Then there would be less of us flipping all over the place and making hybrids.

I have not done a leaked OS yet but I do agree with the strategy. When you have people that are eager and tech wavy that want to try the leaks offered by BlackBerry why not? These people trying the leaks can offer feedback as to how the leaked version is working and what is not so that's a plus for BlackBerry. I think it's safe and a great system. If you do not like or agree with it the just like porn, don't look at it.

There is a satellite tv company that in cooperation with several forums has a program that during specific times the members can download beta firmware for testing before it is released as the National Release. Sometimes it will have new features for testing, always some bug fixes or improvements. The company then monitors certain threads for feedback. These testing forum members post their observations according to a specific format. This has been a very important part for testing future firmware.
Blackberry could do that in conjuction with several of the dedicated BB forums. This would prove invaluable due to the real world testing and feedback.

Exactly!

It is unconscionable that BlackBerry didn't know about the flickering issue before final release. Plenty of evidence existed.

The problem here is that complaints are scattered all over, are not presented in a uniform manner. In the sat forum there is a dedicated sub forum for each test firmware release, members have to agree to specific rules, and report bugs in a specific format. Only members have access to these specific forums. Violation of the posting rules will result in posts being deleted and the poster banned from the sub-forum. Members take this seriously, as does the sat company. Too many violations and down right whining could result in the sat company stopping the program.

I just don't think that sort of formality would go over well here. It would be nice if it would.

That is the other side of the coin. Blackberry would have to be dedicated to the process and have a dedicate development crew to monitor those posts, and release regular beta fixes (sat comps do this on a regular weekly basis at a specific time to download the fix). That could be a stumbling block for BlackBerry, how to control the time and duration of availability, perhaps to only specific registered phones. I'm sure it could be accomplished if there is enough desire.

I tried the security wipe then reload everything fix and it seems to have worked. I did a backup with BlackBerry Link first then restored it after everything was finished reloading. If you are having flicker and other problems, this fix seems to work.

It comes back eventually. I also experienced the same but I got it back after a week or so.
Anyhow I've now applied the leaked fix and it has been going strong.

Flickering may fixed, for now, but later it will appear eventually.

I used leaks from the start 10.3.1 leaks comes out. And I can say, one of the best leak I ever installed is the 2480 fixed for passport. No flicker, best camera focus, fast browser, notification no problem for me.

Today I was about to downgrade my 10.3.1.1565 to 10.3.0.x. I Have done a full update before I did the official update. I have restored the backup today. Everything went fine. It took me just 10min. But then I went to settings > about and my passport tells me that I am still in 10.3.1.1565!

But the FLICKERING IS GONE and the device feels fast. Damn fast. Whats going on here?

- Sachesi
- and the 2267 OS
Still don't get what's this autoloader? why is it called like this?
I wanted to do the so called autoloader installation with the 2267 OS
and directly after this procedure install the updatefiles. Is it that easy? I found this nice article on the crackberry webpage for the autoloading procedure. doubleclick that .exe enter sim pin... and so on.

But my question which is still left to be answered: Can I go back to official update if anything goes wrong?
