This "flickering" is a unique battery saving feature of the BlackBerry Passport which uses Frequency Alternating Interpolation Lighting technology.
I see what you did there

Honestly.... how does a company as big as BlackBerry miss a glitch like this...? I used 10.3.1 for a week and i noticed the flickering as well as many other serious bugs... my contacts are all linked up terribly, people are linked with the wrong people. Complete disaster. I blamed the leak for these issues but if this is actually the official version... I'm not going to be happy.

Shouldn't be a surprise. They can't market ice water in the desert.

It's been held off from carriers such as Rogers... I hope other carriers and BlackBerry have the sense to not push the Passport update.

    Posted via CB10
They clearly haven't, however - the update has been approved by a number of carriers, such as Vodafone UK and Orange in France, and is supposedly being pushed to all factory-unlocked devices as well (though I have not yet received it).

And ATT will probably not release this until fixed. Yet some here will whine about ATT lagging on releasing updates.

How to create a log file when flickering occurs:

    Go into Help Application
    Swipe down
    Select Create Report
    Click Save Log Snapshot
    Browse to Device/Documents/Logs
Touch and Hold Log you want to share
    Select Share
    *
Anyone reading who's experiencing this, please make a log of the problem and email to mclewley at blackberry dot com.

ohhh poor Michael Clewley, now, as he didn't already know before, he wants logs email asap...

People have been reporting this issue for months!!! Shame on you, do your job, and if the version is not optimal, just dont freaking release it!!!

Bunch of amateurs, that's what they are.

Some already mentioned: what do you think will happen when the passport will hit the US, with the flickering?? what will people say??
I really hope they fix it and release a new OS before i even finish this post!

Isn't the AT&T Passport due to go on sale tomorrow? They'd have to pull it right now if that's the case, as their Passport is supposed to come with 10.3.1 preloaded.

The new AT&T version of passport will release with 10.3.1.... I'm pretty sure the factory OS won't have any flickering and of so why the **** do the higher ups at BlackBerry don't know about this but the peons and testers do!?

I should of just been patient and left my phone as it cam out of the box in early December. I really do not think I had flickering with it. Can't remember which OS came pre-loaded.

Then again I think I loaded a leak pretty quickly after getting it. So I really do not know.

10.3.0 was not known to have a flickering issue, so it was likely fine out-of-the-box. The AT&T Passport, however, is supposed to come with 10.3.1 preloaded, so that's quite concerning - especially since it's due to go on sale tomorrow.

You will need an autoloader to downgrade to 10.3.0.908

If the flickering isn't so bad, bear with it till they release a fix. Im sure now the world of passport is flickering, Blackberry will work double time to fix it !!!

Flickering here, on two Passports, both running the official OS. Even though I knew that they weren't going to fix it before release, there was still that glimmer of hope that somebody would have enough sense to do it. I guess not.

the flickering only happens on passport i believe. It made me sell my passport and go back to my Z30. It goes to show how much blackberry cares for the customer by not fixing that issue

Just sent logs over, ironically the screen went crazy when I was trying to create the log!!

I am surprised this issue has been missed, it has been happening on my PP on all 10.3.1 builds.
