    Hi community,

I have a problem with my newly purchased BB Passport SE. The device arrived last week (brand new in box). I put my Sim in after setup and searched for network coverage. It is T-Mobile Austria's own MVNO tele.ring.

Regarding the coverage maps on their website, I am supposed to have 2.5G and 4G coverage at my position. Passport logs in on EDGE but there is no way to choose 4G/LTE in the setting. I am only get offered 2G and 3G. If I put the Simcard into a old Lumia 830, LTE is up and running in seconds. So it can't be the tele.ring Simcard. If I pop in another network operator Sim into the Passport, it also logs on to LTE within seconds - therefor it can't be the problem of the Passport too.

I've posted this problem on the LTE forum, a Austrian mobile community and got a scary answer. It might be possible, that Blackberry Firmware uses provider specific configurations that keeps off the Passport from the LTE Network as it detects a MVNO simcard of T-Mobile and not a "real" T-Mobile card.

Is this possible and if yes, is there any way around these provider specific configurations? It is not a Passport specific problem, my old Q5 shows the same problem. It's Blackberry BB10 specific. They are both on 10.3.2.xxx

Should work... and there have been reports on other MVNO of BB10 devices not working. Some cases a call to the MVNO can get your phone whitelisted, others you need to look elsewhere for service.

Hopefully someone with Austria's T-Mobile can pipe in....

Yes, it's a BB10 problem, but in any case the fix is for BlackBerry to push an update to BB10 that includes instructions for what to do when a BB10 phone encounters that carrier. Given the state of BB10, that is not very likely.

The list of carriers in the OS as of the latest (final?) OS 10.3.3.2205 is here: https://pastebin.com/XMHCGrM0

Interestingly, Telering is in there, but I'm not sure if that's the case for 10.3.2. You could try getting 10.3.3 and seeing if it works.
