I believe I have an NFC I'm as the att store knew I have that feature though they didn't know this phone in November; I was given the same sim as for a new iphone with NFC... can I find that out on my fone? In settings NFC is shown & turns on & off. Does that mean I'm good?
What color is your sim card? When I received mine in Canada, it was black

I just got one from Rogers after reading this thread. It is different according to them. Going to try it out soon!

Card is not black, but it's ATT usa...
Ok so where do I get the CIBC app?

I got my SIM card for iPhne6 which is able to do applepay via bump at the cash register in some stores (walmart, starbucks,etc.)... also, would the NFC how in settings were the card not provisioned? I would think not...
I looked into this a while ago, and there really isn't much you can do in the us with nfc payments in bb10.
The us carriers launched ISIS a couple years (now softcard), but it needed Google Wallet, which requires Google play services to work
Here is their website, maybe things have changed...

Works great in Canada for Tim Hortons via their app as is with regular SIM...and also with Rogers Sure Tap wallet and SIM for the Canadian Banks and their credit cards.

From what I can see the NFC payment app "suretap wallet" is not available for the Passport. If someone has it, can you point me to where you found it?
ISIS now named Softcard was a NFC payment system backed by AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon in 2011 and it had no Google dependency by design. As such, some carriers such as Verizon actively tried to prevent the use of Google Wallet by denying its installation because back then Wallet relied on the Secure Element of a smartphone. Since KitKat 4.4, Wallet does not rely on hardware for NFC authentication storage.
Isis/Softwallet is bleeding cash by the 100s of millions and is rumored to be currently under talks with Google for a takeover meaning if this comes to fruition Google will remove it from the marketplace and there will be an ApplePay/Google Wallet dualopy. BB10 reliance on a simcard system means it will never have any use in the US as it would require a partnership with carriers and US banks.
Not available yet from Rogers for Passport, I'm waiting on it too lol. They only recently added q10 and z30 support.

I don't think it does, at least not the Passport. Software for the Passport is not supported....are you using a Passport?
Ok. That is what I am experiencing. I wish posters would get this stuff right and not guess.
In the USA there are just about 6,800 FDIC insured banks.
In Canada there are just 5 big ones and several credit unions. Rogers (the Carrier) is also legally a bank and a big promoter of NFC payments. The big Canadian banks have all defined some form of NFC payments - most notably CIBC and Royal Bank.
In the USA there was ISIS (for some reason they dropped that name and changed it to Softcard - I am sure it is probably because of "Archer" the world's most dangerous spy) and this was a joint venture between Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. It is in deep water at the moment and they are considering selling the whole thing to Google. Funnily enough, this JV was created to FIGHT Google - even though it is almost a clone of the Google Wallet Services.
Canada has "Sure-Tap" and EnStream - which are both joint ventures of Bell, Rogers, and Telus. BlackBerry is the NOC which houses EnStream in Canada (what is the world's biggest most secure private network after all?)
The "Sure-Tap" technology is SIM based and requires a close relationship between the SIM and the NFC capabilities of the Phone. Currently only some Android devices but all BB10 devices (as well as Bold 9900 BBOS phones) support this technology. SureTap can do a lot more than just pay for things; It forms the basis for two-factor authentication for a "digital ID" for upcoming services provided by Enterprise.
Sure-Tap (and Softcard) are direct competitors to the Apple-Pay system.
Because there are SO MANY different banks in the USA there is little chance that a single payment system will emerge like Sure-Tap. There are also several different payment processors in the USA and only a couple in Canada.
SO - in the USA it's really hyper fragmented. What I suspect will happen is that Apple-Pay will come on strong in the USA but not elsewhere, because of the fragmentation of that market. In Canada the Sure-Tap/EnStream alliances will prevail because the Carriers would rather see THEIR standard succeed over the closed and proprietary Apple system (which is, obviously, closed to Android, BlackBerry, and Windows users as well as any other SIM based device including tablets).
For OP: You will have to talk to your credit or debit card issuer to find out what they are planning to do to support NFC payments in your geography.
For Canadians: There are many choices including private cards (like Tim Hortons, Starbucks) and credit cards (TD Bank, Scotia Bank, CIBC Visa, Desjardins, Royal Bank Visa, Rogers Master-Card, Gift Cards, Movie cards, etc.)
The nice thing about Standards is that there are so many to choose from :)
I am running CIBC mobile payments on all my BB10 devices. The trick was to start with the supported one (Z10) and then restore it from backup.
If you want to sideload the .BAR file for CIBC (you must have a BB10 device with a CIBC credit card for this to work) please PM me.

I have a CIBC credit card, and I had a Z30 which my son has now. When you write BB10 do you mean other than a Passport?

You can find the bar file in the thread above.

At next week's MWC it's going to be clear that all of the major mobile platforms have their mobile payment strategy in place: Apple Pay, Android Pay/Softcard, Samsung LoopPay. Left out are Microsoft and Blackberry unless they can find a willing and able partner.
From what I read it means BlackBerry does not have their own in house mobile payment like apple pay or Google wallet? Yikes! There goes my vending machine swag :')
But I hope they implement something like that in the near future, I just love to tap and pay but it's no necessity.

So I am trying to get a NFC sim from Rogers. Is there an app that will allow me to put in my capital one credit card and use my phone to do tap payments.
It seems like most app's I have to use that particular banks creditcard for example CIBC.
Has anyone found an app that can use any creditcard from any bank??
thanks,
You would only want to do this via a built-in platform app.
